But she's going to need some work on her form . She is our 7th child and only the 2nd to show an interest in bowhunting Took her to my brothers this evening to let her shoot her new bow and she had a blast . really don't know who was more excited , me or her Her form still needs some work but she was showing a lot of improvement by time we were done . We still don't have a peep on it yet but I think once it is installed it will solve the problem with her wanting to keep her head away from the string . We started out at about 25 pounds even though she can pull more . Once we get the peep on it and she gets used to the sites we'll start turning it up . We ended up getting her the Diamond Infinite Edge and I was sure impressed with the bow . With it's setting ranging from 5-70 pounds and 13-30 inch draw length , I shouldn't need to buy her another bow .
Congrats!!! How AWESOME!! Our youngest (by 2 minutes) LOVES to shoot her bow! She has the smaller Atomic, wishing we would have gotten the Infinite Edge but we'll see, MIGHT get her the Edge for Christmas and her sister can use the Atomic. She doesn't seem as into shooting. Can't wait for my first hunt and definitely can't wait to take the girls out!! Carol
No more awesome than what you were already doing We had bought Ravens as a gift but when I found out her adoption party wasn't until the middle of Sept. I told the wife that I couldn't wait that long The only thing I didn't like about the package was the cheap rest . It didn't have enough adjustment without setting it a little crooked but it will work for now and I have a few extras to replace it with .
Thats so cool. My daughter is only 8 months, but sometimes we sit on the couch and watch bow hunt or die together. I hope that she likes shooting. I would love to be able to do something like that with her when she is a little older.
They're never to young to start getting them excited about hunting The 3 year old in the background of the pic I posted is her little brother and he's already ate up with everything about deer hunting
Thanks! Congrats on the adoption!!!! Is the rest the one with the brushes or the red felt? The Atomic has the brushes. I need to get a new rest for my bow but not sure what to get or even where to start looking. Carol
My 3 year old son and I were shooting his homemade PVC pipe bow in the basement the other day. He was shooting at a “pretend deer” (a throw pillow). He knows all about daddy going hunting at grandpa’s farm and loves deer jerky and deer burgers. Later that day we were walking to the park which is two blocks away. As we are walking past a tree lined ditch he tells me that the deer live down there and the next time I need some deer for jerky I should come here with my bow and “catch” one (he likes to fish too). Now, I live in the suburbs and I’ve seen some deer in some crazy places but I can tell you that there is no way any deer live in that little wooded ditch. However, I’m sooooo happy that he is associating wooded areas with bows, deer, and hunting. He currently likes to fish and I hope he takes and interest in hunting and continues to enjoy to shoot his bow as well. I can wait for our first sit together in a ground blind (even if it’s only for a half hour or so). Congrats to all those with young shooters and outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen. -D
Hers has the brushes . Not to concerned about the brushes , just that it's all plastic and didn't have enough adjustment to get it set up properly .
Just curious , did he get his bow at the deer classic in Columbia ? I know UBM has a booth there every year and they pass out a ton of them bows . Darren and that bunch do a great job of getting kids what they need to get them shooting
No, I made it. A friend of my wife sent this link. I modified it by braiding the string, tying in some nocks with serving, and I made an arrow rest out of some scrap cedar. Super easy and cheap to make. Perfect for a 3-5 year old. Craft, Interrupted: Fun Jar Friday #11: Kid Friendly PVC Bow and Arrow +4 more! -D
I have a three year old brother. He shoots with me. We get up close to the target and I draw and aim and when I tell him to he pulls the trigger on my release. He also hangs stands and cams with me.
You better hope he never gets his arm in front of that string. Doesn't sound very safe to me. There's no way I would let my little three year old do that. To each his own I guess.
