When I made it to my food plot, I was suprised to see what the deer were digging through the snow to get. I figured they would be hard after the turnips. Last year they destroyed them before Thanksgiving, this year I still have tons left. My corn has all been gone for over a month. So when I saw them digging through the snow to get after what little clover there is I was a little surprised. They are hitting the wheat and oats some too, but clover is definately the food of choice. Oh, and Justin, I checked all over the food plots and no sheds there either. Just for referance, my 5 acre food plot is the 3 legged field in the lower right. The long skinny green field is where I have planted my Native Warm Season Grasses for future bedding cover.
I hunt over a clover/winter wheat field and it seems to do the trick as well I don't think it gets much better than that.
hmm. seams i have read here that deer wont eat clover after the first few frost?? see deer hate standing corn. thanks for the gps info on the map when can you can not make it to hunt this area? please ad any stand sites you rec. thanks:D:D:D just pulling you leg..
You can have all my stands from last season, all I killed was a doe! And if you can make it in there and out alive, you're welcome to it. I have eyes in the woods!
if your woods had eyes they would have found that buck for you....... maybe you need a more proficient hunting partner?hint hint.
