The fields are still standing... the ground is soaked... looks like I'll have to find a different area to hunt when they finally get around to cutting the hay. I've been looking hard at some public land... but don't know where to start... Any ideas for hunting publicly are welcome... I also have another 5 acre parsal I can hunt right up the road used to be killer for does... he says he hasnt seen many this year though... May still be better than public land.

I have over 1,000 acres to hunt publicly and have never even considered it, until now.

Did you pick that WMA because it is right near you? If not and you are willing to drive a little you have wayyyyyyyyyyyy more than 1,000 acres available to hunt.

Go to the Find Game link on the site you provided, once you get logged in and fill in the find game filters (like mileage from your zip code) and it will list them and show you a map of them which includes phone numbers, rankings of the hunting there broke down by species, and other useful info. You are also fairly close to a lot of National Forest and State Forest land in that part of the state.

People sleep on VA public land!!
