I disagree. The best would be anyone of several dishes. Oh hell, you're right, I love that one too. Maybe my love for tasty foods is why I weight 215. LOL You can get good General's and bad General's. Now my specialties are always good. Mexican anyone? Or Italian???? Or just country cooking anyone????

P.S. I drove 50 miles round trip the other day just to get some good General Tso's Chicken. Up here in the sticks.... the pickins are slim. When I get ready to make some exotic meal I have to drive 35 miles to Syracuse to get the fixins. That's the only thing I miss about living in Baltimore..... access to stuff.

I do concur about the good and bad General T's David. A bad GT chicken can be rotten, but a good General Tso's is heaven on earth! I am getting some tonight, I have not had any in months. LONG live the General.

Okay GT chicken can be good. But that dish in the picture should be 2-3 pieces of chicken and the rest rice and vegies, lots of vegies.

That bowl Hooker posted would be more like something you would see on our table. The General Tso's chicken I've tried seemed to have sugar in the sauce which I don't think is really necessary, but that may just be the way they do it around here.

I often mix up a marinade of soy sauce with different herbs, spices, etc., and then toss the meat pieces in a wok with a little oil after marinading them. Then I toss in the vegies, lots of vegies, sometimes with the meat, sometimes separate. Sometimes I'll do Miriam's first and then add some crushed cayenne, or other, peppers for my husband's and my portion. We eat lots of eggs and pork. You can do a whole lot with eggs and with pork. My husband makes a killer barbecue sauce with tomato sauce, basil, tabasco, and vinegar with very little sugar. Really works on pork or chicken washed down with beer. Serve with potatoes and corn baked on the grill, (in foil) and more beer.

You guys can probably understand that this talk of meat recipes makes us sheep a little nervous

Anything washed down with beer has to be good.

Beer also is a great substitute for soy sauce as a marinade.

    :sheep:
She has never tasted beer of course, not being old enough ;)

You see DLG, I like the Genera's chicken because it is a mans sloppy meat meal. I am happy if I get 5 pieces of veggies with the chicken....I want SLOP, like a pig to eat when I go for the Generals chicken.

All this talk of oriental food made me go bonkers this afternoon. I had eaten a late breakfast after walking the dog and doing the fish. I got a starve on about 3. Rode to the nearest Japanese retaurant and got a carry out of veggie rolls, shrimp fried rice and some really good spicey shrimp and scallops with some hot oil for the shrimp fried rice. Yum YUM.... I pigged out. Got enough left for a snack and another meal at least. LOL
