So I'm watching the Championship Game. Ugly is the only way to describe it. No way do either of these teams belong Number One. This game proves that luck, the draw, a bad game here or there and the wrong teams end up playing. This game has shown NO sense of playing the game as a team. It's all been "ME" ball. When a team plays 20 minutes of basketball and only has ONE ASSIST.... you're not playing team ball. Ugly game, the winner is just lucky to have played someone as bad as they are.
After reading several of your posts about the game of basketball, I am not sure you have much of a grasp on the intricacies of the game.
I completely disagree with the teams playing "ME" ball. One assist is the result of shooting less than 20% from the floor. There was plenty of good ball movement, just very very very very very very very poor shot making. I do agree that the best team doesn't always win the tournament. Thats part of the fun. Being the National Champion in college basketball definitely doesn't mean you were the best team that season. I knew Duke fans weren't that smart when it comes to basketball...but c'mon man.
To me the right team won. Although my opinion may have a little to do with the fact I picked UConn in the bracket pools I was in, and that helped me win all 3 of them.
This type of thinking is what I'm afraid we'll hear of.....even if the NCAA goes to a tournament format for football (D1A). Damned if you do........ Who cares if the "right/best" team won? UCONN played the best hand they had....with what they were dealt.....better than anyone else did. They deserve their title. My congrats to them.
I personally feel UConn started the season as the best team and finished the season as the best team. However, they were not the best team in the middle of the season.
They won the championship meaning they are the #1 team. They proved it by winning the whole tournament. One game can change a teams season and that was proved during this tournament. They finished each game and won each game.
I actually like the ugly games sometimes. Two teams not having good nights, but both still competing very hard. Each game in the sporting arena is different and teams have to adapt to win. UCONN did that last night. Some of the better NFL games are when quarterbacks throw for less than a 50% completion rate and the defenses are dominating.
What do I know.... I've never played the sport at that level. LOL The game still sucked bigtime. Both teams were the laughing stock of all the sports shows today. Everyone here is telling me that a team that was 1 for 25 inside the arch and shot 18 percent for the game is number 2. ROTFLMAO
That was some seriously ugly basketball played (by both teams). But ..... congrats to UCONN. Impressive run starting at the Big East Championship. Could be really dangerous next year if Walker stays (which he won't)
You don't need to have played D-1 college basketball to understand that the championship game was an horrendous game. Butler played with no confidence. At the end of the game, when they desperately needed someone to make a shot, they were all too scared to take the shot. UConn didn't play much better. It was just an ugly game.
As great was Walker was this year, UCONN's success next year may be more heavily dependent on whether Lamb decides to stay or go. He is likely a better pro prospect than Walker. Also, word on the streets is that Harrison Barnes is returning to UNC!
I would say he definitely is, when looking at what scouts like to see. He's younger, taller, longer, and a better pure shooter. Not saying he will be a better pro, but in the scouts' eyes, he definitely gets better grades on paper.
