It's finally here! After suffering heat stroke and battling skeeters (with a theramcell that didn't work) the cooler temps have arrived! Highs in the high 50's to low 60's. We may even get some frost! Now I feel like it's time to hunt. Wooo hooo!

It's been chilly in NY for a few weeks now. Last weekend I went to visit the inlaws for a weekend camping trip, and it hit 27 degrees outside that night with a hard frost. I ran our new pellet stove last night for the first full night as well.

The northern Adirondacks are near peak for foliage color already, and the southern part of the park is only 1-2 weeks away from peak and has already seen about a half dozen frosts.

I'm hoping for an early foliage drop this year, and by the way things are headed, we might have none at all for the NY southern zone opener on 10/17.

I hear ya Todd, was kinda warm the last few weeks for this time of year. But its been dipping lower and lower that last week or so. High in the 50's today with 30+ mph wind thru tomorrow night. Wednesday morning going to be in the low 30's, going to be an awesome sit! I love it though, there an actual wind chill temp!:)

I do not envy you southern guys! I absolutely hate hot weather (hot=anything over 50 degrees) i don't know how you guys put up with the heat and all those creepy crawly bugs and stuff.

This week has 50s for highs on somedays. Saturday I got the new woodstove in the basement and tonight I am heading for the pipe I need. It's looking wet and warmer for Saturday's opener, but it ain't killing my spirit. Damn, I love this time of year. It's Christmas boys!! Enjoy.

The Temp's are slowly dipping lower and lower. Soon we will get that first frost. The wind is howing today and i have a ton of leaves in my yard. The smell is in air, and i'm loving every minute of it.

It won't be long and i'll be in the woods wrapped into my harness and my climber.
It can't come soon enough, man this year is driving me nuts not being able to get out yet!!! The season starts in 5 days. Its ticking away way to slow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It feels like i should be in a tree right now.

    Temps have definitely dropped.

But whats wrong with me.. I still don't seem to care.

Took a doe my 2nd sit this season on public land no less.. after I saw her go down.. you'd think I just caught a bluegill or something.. nothing. No emotional rise at all.. just nothing.

I think this may be my last year with the compound.. I'm gonna GMMAT it next year.

And I'd also like to coin that phrase.. "just GMMAT it".:D

Will I have to wear flannel and wool though?:(

Ill be out in the stand tonight. It just sucks because its so windy here the last two days. 25 - 30 mph winds. i wonder if thats gonna play a significant roll in deer movement tonight...well see

Driving this morning I saw the first farmers out harvesting. They were picking corn. Temperature got down to the low/mid 40's with overcast skies. I look outside and it LOOKS like November.
