The weekend at the river

    Well this thread is a little over due. My buddy Mike (also known as ksmak02) came up from Corpus to try and shoot some gator gar. Well we were unsuccessful at getting anything big, but we did manage to get Mike on his biggest gar ever!

    I shot this guy a looooong way off

    We went over to the creek and Mike connected with his biggest gar ever! (so far...)

    Here he is cleaning it. It's still in my freezer, I haven't ever eaten it but I plan on trying it soon

    We got down to the river the next morning. We didn't shoot any gator gar but we shot a few big neddle nose

    He made the 8 hour trip home the next morning. Apperantly he went to a river close to his house the next weekend and shot a 6 foot gator gar! (Sorry, I don't have any pics of that)

    Nice.

    Those are some really fat longnose gar. One of these days I'm going to bowfish in Texas.
