Its been a long time coming. After the last 19 months of political turmoil and protests the recall election is today. Will the majority say they approve of what walker has done or throw him out?

I thought the recall election in and of itself was quite the statement concerning walker.

He stays, but what really matters is your congress. If 1 of the 4 senators lose, the senate goes to the Dems.

Walker did not do anything wrong, he just attacked the problem wrong. MI gov has done the same things for MI, he was just a bit smarter at doing it.

The PBS Newshour gave a fairly superficial coverage slot to this yesterday, so hopefully it will get more coverage and better analysis today.

Here in Calif the Repubs recalled Gray Davis about a decade ago, and put their figurehead Arnold the High School Grad into Davis' place successfully, and things got worse not better.

I hope that does not happen in Wisc for Wisc's sake.

It is not surprising at all that enough signatures were aquried.

    Based on the following:

The huge amounts of out of state money that has been poured into Wisconsin. This election has national implications. And it showed.

    The very good union organization.

The Mickey Mouse and Donald Ducks that signed.

A very hot button topic. It clearly motivated those that are affected.

Paid people standing on the side of the road for weeks chanting and yelling at anyone they see to sign. Cripes the entire city of Madison signed and Madison is not a good sample of what the rest of the state thinks.

So clearly this is a very divisive topic and there are many that disagree with walker. Them acquiring enough people to sign a petition is not a very good indication what the overall majority thinks. Today is when everyone can voice their opinion. Not just the anti-walker side.

    I belive walker wins easily.

I don't know germ. I am fine with way he did it as far as I am concerned. I belive the way the other side acted during the last 19 months has hurt them more than helped them. Shows their true colors.

That isn't what I said or was trying to imply. I just thought that a recall election at the governor level was pretty telling. It doesn't happen all that often and someone has to piss off a lot of people for it to happen. Governors upset constituents, take mine for example, he pisses me off a lot these days, but to have a recall election is pretty big. As much as my governor pisses me off I wouldn't have signed a recall petition.

All politics is BS. Gray Davis vs Arnie in Calif was an apt demonstration of that. To get elected all you need is to look good, give great speaches, and promise anything. Ergo it does not look too good for Romney at the national level because 1 out of 3 is not that great.

I agree. Many times I'm voting for the lesser of two evils rather than someone I identify with.

I hope that "I tried to bust the Union" A-Hole gets voted right out of office. Any politician who targets collective bargaining is NO GOOD in my book!!:whip:

    Who cares about Greece, lol

Walker got 66% money from outside and a total of around 30 million

Barnett got 38% money from outside for a total of 4 million

Only a complete idiot could lose this race, and Barnnet is not a strong candidate at all.

    Btw its Barrett.

Walker got a lot of outside money as well. Both sides did. But money doesn't mean ad much in such a short race. The primary was just a few weeks ago. They both have money left over. He is not going to Win or lose because of money germ.

One last thing. The polls showed that 98% had their mind made up right after the primary. The polls have shown no change during the race. You are either with him or against him. Everyone had their mind made up.

Maybe in a normal election. I just don't see it as that big of deal for this one. Everyone in the state knew the issues and has heard about it nonstop for 19 months. Some commercials being run the last few weeks effected this particular election very little. 99.9% of people have had their mind made up for months. At least that is my take.
