Is it just me or does time creep bye after you shoot a buck. I let an arrow fly around 8A.M. This morning, quartering away shot, a touch back but looked to be good penetration in the chest cavaty. Got down found first blood and went back to our cabin to wait for a while. I figure around noon would be enough time to let him lay. Any suggestions on what to do to help pass the time

Review the shot in your head, relax and get your stuff ready for a butchering job. You sound confident in the shot so I suspect that you are all set. If you had something to worry about....you'd be doing THAT instead of looking for suggestions! Good Luck and enjoy the rest of your day!

8 a.m. is not to early for a celebratory shot of Whiskey.

That time does seem to be an eternity. I usually replay the shot 4,876,515 times in my head. Seems like you are pretty confident in the shot. Good job waiting with the inkling of doubt. If it's dead, it will still be dead 4 hours later. Sounds like a done deal to me. Congrats.

I usually go change out of the camo perhaps if it is evening I may have a beer. I am restless until I find the deer, just a brick in the gut feeling.

My last few deer, I head back towards camp grabbing any trial cam cards on my way or close to my way. Check the cards at the cabin. Head in town to get a little breakfast, or cook if I am there for more than a day or two. Seems like by that time it is easily getting to be 3 hours or longer and I can start getting ready to head back in.

    Good luck!

Well I found him, he only went about 70 yards and was stiff as a board. (It’s been 1 degree all day) I don’t think he was alive but only for a few moments after the shot granted how heavy the blood trail was and seeing the entry and exit wounds. The exit hole was right in front of his right shoulder. I’ll post some pics and the story In a bit!
