If this needs shut down, then so be it. Im not trying to take it too far. Recently, local kids have been getting into HUGE trouble for "sexting" (sending risque' pictures of themselves to there boyfriends/girlfriends). They are starting to look into labeling these "children" (17 and under) as sex offenders for RECEIVING these photos. Right? Or Wrong? Or not even appropriate to discuss (Politically incorrect?)
Yeah this is rough.... I feel that this is one issue that I don’t think minors should be tried as adults. An adult in possession of child pornography should be charged to the full extent of the law every time. But we are talking about individuals of age. I absolutely think there should be consequences for these actions. But to label a 15 year old kid as a sex offender because of his raging hormones got the best of him is not right. That label tends to end people’s lives.
X2 Now that being said, maybe the parents should be looked at. Not being charged for anything but, at least their parenting questioned. This is one of many reasons I do not agree with kids having full freedom with technology. I personally do not think a parent should be allowed to have anything except regular phone service on their childs phone.
That's how it flies in my house ..... no way my kid(s) is / were going to have a.smart phone or even texting until they were 18 .... my kids have thanked me for that too .....
I have a teenager and as a parent I know it happens and I'm far from a stick in the mud. I don't think the problem is so much that an individual send a picture of themself to another person, the problem occurs when the second person after a breakup or just for fun then shares it with all of their friends and then in turn their friends and on down the line. It goes from being between 2 people to being distribution of pornographic material. So the law has gotten involved and basically put a zero tollerence on it that the schools then have to follow. They are trying to protect the kids against themselves...
I understand that, Ive also heard rumors that schools collect cell phones at the door randomly now and search them. Thats got to be invasion of privacy.
Kids today bang their teachers and send pictures of themselves nude. We were pumped when spandex shorts came out, lol
the only reason the law is getting involved (this happened here in FL) is a girl took pictures of herself and sent them to her BF, then she broke up with him, in spite of her, he decides to post the pics everywhere he can on the web and send to all his freinds at school. her parents get involved and want to press charges on the kid. IMO the girls parents needed to monitor WTH their daughter was doing on her phone. And the teenage kid probably shouldn't have done what he did, but boys will be boys. on a side note I am so glad I have a son. only one penis to worry about! instead of hundreds!
