Here are the ATL from the 3 that I have found this year. The shed in the snow bed is my favorite so far, thats the first time for me to find one fresh in a snow bed. [/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
Well, went for a short walk after helping a buddies daughter move today and found another match set laying together. It was right off a bed next to a tree. Here they are:
Anyone in Minnesota having any luck? I'm new to shed hunting so I'm trying all of the suggestions that I've read online. ..all to no avail. I've put in about 12-15 miles of hiking thus far. I recently put up a few trail cams to see if I can catch some bucks on cam still wearing their crowns by I'm guessing most have probably dropped by now. Any tips beyond finding beds and food sources and walking fence lines and trails that criss downed trees they would have to jump over?
Congrats Chevs! Great looking shed! Looks like you found it in his bed. Always feels good to get the first shed of the year. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I will be back out in the morning and will see what happens. Congrats on that dandy Chevs! Now go match it up!
tink, biggest thing is to stay positive!!!! ask neighbors and friends if they have noticed any areas where deer have been congregating during winter months. that might help narrow it down some. south slopes where deer can sun themselves to stay warm. maybe change your technique on how you are scanning the ground? I usually look for things that look like three tines up or forks facing up. try looking for arched shaped things. look a few feet off the trails either side, sometimes they throw those things a ways off their head. and most importantly don't look right down at your feet, look out ahead of you. wear POLARIZED sunglasses if you can only go out on a sunny day or try to go out on overcast days. I ususally do my best when it is raining. sounds funny but the overcast skies make the white stand out and the rain helps antlers shine. hope some of this stuff helps.
Thanks for the tips tc. I won't get discouraged. I've got a dog to work with and one of the spots that I'm looking has all of the goods, woods for deer, next to a food plot, and a marshy area that I've been kicking rosters out of. So the worst case scenario is my dog gets a good work out and I keep her on birds. Really good find by the way!
TC you will find some just give it time! It is still a tad early! I think the best month for most everyone is March. It will pick up any time now. I have faith in you. Bedding and staging areas are my best producers!
I went out and looked for a little bit today. Doesn't look like the deer have been using this canyon much. Did see some antelope though. Jmbuckhunter was out there with me.
