bucksnbears - the problem here in Illinois is that them dang tree rats "Squirrels" do A LOT of damage to sheds and they find them fast. So if you want to find some nice sheds with no chews you have to keep stepping on the grounds weekly. I grid search so the deer herds get used to me being out there. They know I don't push them and towards the end of shed season I can get within 20 yards of them before they run off. It is really cool. That is how I get a lot of my best deer pictures.

I forgot to tell you all that my shed hunt yesterday was really cool. I kicked up my herd and they started to circle me on the grounds since they want to stay in this area. A buck was coming back in and I did a mouth grunt at him and he turned and walked right at me grunting. It was really cool. He got to within 30 yards then took off. It was cool how we were grunting back at each other.

Got some good news today! I just picked up a 250 acre Ag farm for shed hunting. Mostly fields with a small section of woods on the back side. I think I am making a trip out there tomorrow morning to make a quick walk thru.

Congrats Holt! You can never have enough places to shed hunt. The only thing you need to shed hunt is TIME and GOOD BOOTS.

Went for another walk today and went to the same area that I found my first match set this year. I was about 20 yards from where I found my set and this is what I found:

Congrats Dawg, that is one fresh shed! I got out Saturday and Sunday for a few hours each day, but got skunked. Another week or two and most bucks around here will start dropping, but I am going to keep trying.

Went for a walk today 2-10-15 on the other end of the thicket that I was in and found that small 4 point. Well, I matched it up! I was about 30 yards to where I found the one side and there the other side laid. I am not sure how I missed it the other day but I did. This one also had blood all over the end. Here is the one side then the match!

This is your year Dawg! Keep it up with the great sheds! I am heading out tomorrow after work to shed hunt a area I scouted 2 weeks ago and had a ton of fresh buck sign in. I have the feeling! There will be sheds tomorrow!

I've been out twice this year and haven't found a single antler. I'm thinking it's still a bit early. I'll be back out this weekend.

I saw that Mn! Way to go! My season is just starting and I have faith in my team!

Bucksnbears I have a job buddy! It is that I work 3-11 and the wife is gone to work so I have my daughter "20 years old" and my granddaughter here at the house. So when she does not need help I am off running to the woods. LOL
