Two weekends ago, I was fortunate enough to help out with an event held just north of here. My wife's trainer is the regional director of a new fitness program called Gut Check. The company was started by Joe Decker, an ex-ranger, turned professional endurance athlete/trainer. The man has pretty much killed every major adventure race you can think of. They started a new race last year called The SUCK. They have a 12hr regional qualifiers with a national 36hr race. The race starts in the evening and goes through morning. It involves a lot of military aspects, but also a lot of modern circuit training. This particular course, according to Joe, was the nastiest he has seen. Lots of elevation gain (~1100 feet in 1.5 miles of road). It's in a very remote section of the northern tier of PA. Competitors came from Michigan, Indian, NYC, Virginia, Maryland, and of course, PA. My wife was a counter and director at "base camp" where competitors would come off the mountain and have to do new circuits (log lifts, pullups, burpees, atlas stone lifts, dumbell swings, etc.) before heading back off up the mountain. I decided to be the unofficial photographer :D Unfortunately, I don't have a camera with video, so I had to use footage from another person's camera which isn't great quality, but it was enough to put together a little promo). I didn't get much in the line of night shots because I ended up not bringing my flash and I was also helping my wife with the stations. Anyways, thought I would share (this is the official Gut Check page)
