    Hello folks!
I faced a new problem. On my bear legion bow 60#31 the cable where it is attached to the cam was frayed. So it was frayed I have nothing to do but taking this white protection thread away. And now I need to get the new thread to protect my cable from being frayed. As far as I understand I have 3 sorts of treads aground the string and the cable, the black on the ends and on the cams, the broken white on the cable and the thick one at the arrow place.
So please tell me which thread should I buy to protect the string?
And to make a long story short which one you recommend me to get for the string in future?
And is it plausible to use one string material for tradition bow?
    Thanks a lot
    Have a good hunt!
    Dima.

I'm assuming it's the serving that frayed and you pulled it off? I'd replace the string.

So if the serving has frayed out on him in an area but the string is otherwise good, what's the harm in placing fresh serving on just the bad section? Certainly cheaper than replacing the whole set. To the OP do you have any archery shops around you? See you're in Russia so .... I haven't a clue.

It could be re-served, (is that a word?), but I figured since it's going to be in a press at the shop, why not just put a new string on it? It might not be needed, but it's what I would do if it were me.

    yes it is;)
I hava a lot of shops but they are for sports archers. they began telling me that i have to buy 5 spesial sorts thread for the string and 1 additional for cable and its depend on the way i shoot:) than I told that hava a hunting bow, and I have just 3 sorts of thread around the string, the shop assistant told that he is a sportsman and has no idea about hunting bow at all. that happens because in Russia just a few people bow hunt almmost all hunt with semi auromatic rifles and shortguns:) cause it easier...
Just tell which thread can I use to protect the cable. 0/17/ 0/14/ 0/20 thickness.
and if it would not work of cause I'll get a new string and cable. i just want to maintian my bow proppely, to know it better:)
    thanks a lot.

If it is that new why not take it back to the shop you bought it at and see if they will just replace the string under warranty? I would try that first.

I'm not sure what part is frayed, maybe it's just me but that looks normal minus you should probably wax the string more.

If it was just a serving issue there is no reason to have replace the entire cable and or string. Sloppy serving is seen on way to may factory strings, and few custom strings also....I can not see via the picture where the original serving was, I am assuming you removed it? In any event I will post a link that shows very common serving materials and hopefully you can match them up, and if not there is no reason you couldn't use as similar material and get things in working order. Hopefully you will be able to find a local shop that can help you, or if its an option and you had the tools you could do it your self with a little internet coaching. I would offer to fix your up but I think a new bow would be cheaper then the flight from Russia to NY.....

no the warranty is in moscow, a don't want go there. The string is ok but before it was wraped by the while neilon string, and when it frayed i put it off. and now a want to wrap it again with the propper material. In the sport shop i was told to use BCY Halo .017, for the middle part of the string - BCY Halo .014. for the cam - BCY 3D. for the arrow place - BCY 62XS and this one to make string myself - BCY Trophy. .... so many, but sportsman shoot at long distanses unlike hunters...

Halo.014 will most likely work... have them reserve the section and you will good to go.

I dont see why bees wax wouldn't work, rub it into the sting with a small piece of heavy paper or even leather.

I would recommend buying a well made string and cables from a good state side string maker, your only maintaining one bow so the investment in tools and materials to make your own will never really be recouped.
Your best best is to order two or three sets at one time from a good string builder and then have them shipped to you. The reason I say two or three sets is that that should last you for the most part the life of the bow depending on how much you shoot...and shipping is probably a major factor ...so shipping a couple or more sets at once will be more cost effective....if you need recommendations for a string builder PM me and i can get you in touch with someone that would be willing to work with you as far as over seas shipping.

Though from the sounds of it you have shop near you that can build what you need, if they can build target string and cables they can build yours also. all you need is the specs from your bow manufacture.

Its not unusual to have a serving fray. The best action is already been said re-serve with .014 halo. I would take a cotton ball and go around the cam and see if there are any burrs then take a emery board and smooth out any thing the cotton sticks to.
