The streak ends at 297. Does Favre play another down ever?

I think now that the streak is over he quite possibly could be done for the season and likely his career. Nothing much for him to play for and risk further injury.

I heard it was a atleast couple week injury. So I would guess he is done. But it wouldn't shock me if they let him make a cameo appearance before its all over.

Whichever scenario elicits the most sympathy and media would be my guess.

I see more weeping, though, either way.

He has nothing left to prove to anyone. Now is the time to ride off into the sunset IMO.

I believe he is probably done for good now.

In which situation would you respect him more? (Open question to fans and haters alike)

It wouldn't matter to me "respect" wise. That ship sailed long ago. But, he is still my favorite player of all time. I know that sounds weird to some.

This is what I mean about respect. He couldn't wait to start the profit from the streak.

Favre tries to profit from end of streak

Apparently, a salary of $16 million for 2010 isn’t enough.
Not long after Vikings quarterback Brett Favre was placed on the inactive list for Monday night’s game against the Giants, Favre’s official web site began selling a signed football commemorating his 297-game streak of starts.
For the low, low price of $499.99.
“One of the most historic streaks ever in all of sports has come to an end,” the message reads on Favre’s site. “The NFL’s own Ironman Brett Favre has ended his consecutive starting game streak at 297. Chances are if your under 40 you don’t remember a time in the NFL with out Brett Favre playing on Sunday. This is a monumental feat especially at the quarterback position. Just consider since 1992 the Chicago Bears have watched over 20 QB’s start for their team; and the average career length in the NFL is less than four years.”
The signed ball will include the inscription “297 starts 1992-2010.”
Surely, there has to be a better way to spend $499.99

    Hear. Hear.

I used to have a lot of respect for his playing career. That ended around the second retirement boo-hoo-fest.

As your favorite player of all time, what would you have him do? Personally, I'd respect him more if he was physically able to come back in week 17 AND DID, rather than just bowing out. That's just me.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm sure that he's not sitting at a dell running that site.

If he came back in week 17 or never played again wouldn't matter to me. He has proven time and time again his toughness. I just want him to retire for good so I can stop seeing him in those damn purple jerseys.:tu:

Fair enough. If he could play in week 17 and doesn't, it mars the games leading up to 297 that he toughed it out. Makes it seem like it was about the streak. I'd like to think it was about more than that. I guess I'm an optimist.

I would think he has a say in what is sold on his own site. He has to sign the balls. I think they could have waited longer than a couple hours after he was deactivated to start selling that ball.

I just wish Donovan had helped me along the same lines. I wish he had lit it up a bit more.

Totally unrelated subject, but do you really think the celebs sign all their stuff?

Probably not all of the stuff. He will need a reason to get out of the house though.

I hope he comes back, for just one game, in Week 17. Let jackson play the rest of the season then peace out in FA.

What you all saw from Jackson tonight Is exactly what he's done as a Viking before Favre was here. If Favre Is Indeed done, It was great having ya.
