Well today was a special day at my Inlaws house, Story goes like this.
24 years ago My father inlaw paid me to take his Daughter off his hands :D j/k
after getting married, and him knowing I was a Bowhunter he said he wanted to give me something he had. He had gave up bow hunting for long line trapping, and after
digging around in his cellar he came out with a 4 set of vintage arrows in an ancient qwiki quiver for a recurve, but he couldnt find the bow and said he thought he loaned it to someone years before but couldnt remember who. I kept the arrows all these years just for the coolness of owning vintage arrows and had them hung in my archery corner. Fast forward to several month ago. My son takes vocational welding in High school and the Auto mechanics complex is also attached to the same building. My son was talking one day and my Father inlaw mentioned knowing the auto mechanics teacher from way back. Then a light went off in My Father inlaws head and he said you know what, I loaned that bow to BL and had forgot about it. Jokingly he said I ought to go to his class and ask for my bow back but just figured it was long gone now. My son calls home after school two days later and said I got pap aws bow back for him  He was joking around with said teached and mentioned he had his pap paws bow. The guy looked puzzled and said you know what, I think you are right and brought in to school for Dalton to bring home. It was very faded, scratched up and had no string. I put out a thread in the trad section asking where to get a string for it and had some responces where to order it. One of those responses really stood out to me, It was our very own carpsniper, volunteering to make me one,as well as give me new arrow nocks as the old ones were brittle. He wanted nothing for it but ask to see a pic when it was back home again with rightful owner. Kendall I want to thank you again for a beautiful multi colored string, it fit perfect ;) I spent about an hour with fine steel wool sanding the old dull stained finish. I then restained all the wood areas that were dull, and then added two coates of gloss laquer. It almost looked new again. The bow is a Bear Kodiac 60" 45 lb pull 1953 model.

The broad heads were rusted but I wanted to salvage them. I bead blasted them, repainted them there correct color Kaki camo and resharpened them ( I cut myself once :D ) The bow and arrows got returned today as a Christmas gift. You should have seen his face, he was beaming :) He had killed his first Deer with this bow over 30 years ago. It had been missing for around 30 and is now back home. I was shocked, he hugged me and said thanks  He dosent hug  Carpsniper, he said to tell you thanks as I told him you had made him the string ;)

Awesome! I'm so glad it fit.

Did you shoot it at all? It's difficult to tell from the picture but it looks like the nocking point is too low.

That is something your Father-in-law will treasure.

I wanted him to be the first to shoot it. He is going to bring it to my house and try it out soon. I had to re nock it, but it is square ;)

I read this and cried like a baby! I have known Dink a long time and he is a super nice guy. A couple of things though pal.....you mean you "bean" blasted not "bead" blasted right????? And no way those broadheads could have cut your enourmously fat fingers enough to do any real damage. You Hammerhead.
