I had about 12 different bucks July/August. I am now down to 1 or 2 (on camera) and they're just little. I think ours ventured down the road to the delicious bean and corn fields. I am hoping they will come back once those are cut. This is a new property (just bought a house this year), so I am not sure what will happen!
Covey I think we agree more than you think, yes it is true at times deer can repeat procedures, travel routes or actions but there is always a reasoning behind why they do it...could be a various set amount of reasons...as an example last year if I'd had a buck tag I could have killed my biggest target buck RD in late season. He was bedding in one of only two places and always coming to the brassicas for turnip gorging. Only the winds controlled the timing of his approaches and exits, but he was a big time repeat offender. I'll grant the use of the word but in my opinion I don't like it because if a deer is truly doing a pattern there is no reason at all for them to not do it again...when in fact that isn't the case. I can explain more when I have time, but it is true if tracked especially over years deer behavior especially specific mature buck behavior can become more predictable...however never 100%, because if it was guys like you and I would get bored with this sport brother.
I been running 4 cameras on different places same farm. I had 4 to 5 different bucks in each camera for the last 3 weeks no bucks at all. I'm guessing with acorns dropping thats where they are.
