It's a freakin four legged animal. Kill them where you want, when you want and with whatever you want, who cares what anyone else thinks of you. (Within the law obviously)
Yeah this thread got way out of control. Never should have turned into a giant argument. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Or you could just do what he does and find somebody else to pay it. Depending on who your referring to as "he."
I said I don't know him.......never heard of him actually. Because I know the truth from first hand experience in my life. Show me where I said success would be easy.
They are.......but that's not what you asked about. What do you mean "find a place to hunt".........what you REALLY are saying is you want to use a piece of land and enjoy all the fruits it has to offer but you don't want or can't pay for it. Well, that sounds like a sweet deal to me man!! I don't want to pay my mortgage or taxes or truck payment or any other bill for that matter but guess what.......someone has to. You want to play???.....you have to pay. How do you dream up any right or entitlement to hunt on land someone else has worked their whole life to pay for?? Do you help him with his mortgage or taxes?? If so fine, if not you are a mooch. That's why public land exists.
You had it.........right up until you claimed the start of your post was out of the realm of your control.
We all are different with different goals. While some would enjoying owning and only hunting off 350 acres... I will stick with the above quote. Only hunting 350 acres would bore me. Paying that much money for that amount of land just to kill a deer would be a waste of money to me. I can find other things to spend my money on so my family can enjoy life. I will stick with hunting and shed hunting 10s of 1000s of acres 3 fold ( mostly private ) for free. I love to roam and explore. Landowners are different here or least they have been to me over the years. None have ever acted like I was a mooch or a parasite. Many are now good friends that I would have never probably met if it weren't for knocking on doors. I have 240 acres of family land that I could hunt within 70 miles of me. I haven't hunted it since high school ( 30 some years now ). There aren't... nor were there ever any big bucks on it. Hell there never were any deer on it for the most part. Great place to trap though. If I had settled on just that so not to be a parasite... I would have gave up hunting long ago. There are many ways to get the opportunity of hunting land with mature bucks. Working hard by gaining permission, find good public land, scouting and putting your time in hunting is one way. Working hard to pay for good land... putting money and time into improving it is another. Working hard to pay to go on guided hunts is another. Unless everything is handed to you on a platter without you working for it in some way... we will all work hard or could work harder to increase our chance at a mature buck if that is what we want to do. It seems like a pretty simple an straight forward concept. Pretty much what the article probably intended but somehow we sunk to the level were we needed to mention mooches and parasites. Go figure with a thread having big bucks in the tittle. Probably also the reason why we don't talk big buck tactics on here anymore as Buckeye eluded to. We end up with a half of a page of interesting stuff... then 9.5 pages of this. YAY !!!! Tim
Hello, brand new here. Joined this forum cause of the beginning of this thread. I've been hunting only 2 seasons now but been into archery for about 9. We live on a small hobby farm about 50 acres. I've put in food plots and worked hard even before I started hunting. The only thing I can add to this thread is hunt the rut and be patient. My first year stuck a nice doe and an alright 8 point. Last year cause I had my first buck already down the previous year I wanted a big buck. I worked hard on plots, I scouted, prepared early. I never saw one big buck on any cam I had set up, but then I took the peak rut week off. I sat 8hrs a day only to see some decent but not huge bucks. The last day of my rut holiday I sat another 8 hrs and nothing big. Here is where I'll get some flack. I live the hunt everyday, every day I check things out. I was walking in my yard and there was my buck I got impatient and took him with my wife's rifle (yes I do regret it) rookie mistake. He was a 135. 2 days later a bigger one shows up. Had I had more patience I could of bagged a real monster with my bow I believe. Won't make that mistake again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Fre
I gotta agree w LittleChief... No way does Atlas believe the crap he keeps arguing. Reminds me of Rancid a while back, arguing for the sake of arguing. Atlas atleast does it with respect though.
Folks like to whine and moan about the lack of tactic discussion in exchange for degenerative arguments....and then keep contributing to the degenerative arguments.....my guess is that if everyone truly wished to not see threads containing pages of degenerative arguments then they should probably ignore the catalyst of the arguments and be catalysts of their positive ideals.
If you are unable or unwilling to understand how the things you say are out of the realm of your control actually are just the opposite then I can see how that made no sense to you.

I have access to about 1,000 acres of private land and I tried to hunt that way in years past.........too much ground for one man to cover with any sort of efficiency. Honestly most of my efforts were a waste of time as I never even sat half my plans because I could only be in one stand at a time. Just spread myself too thin. Seriously there are many parts of our 350 we barely if ever touch and that's with 4 guys. There's just no need most times. Besides, our spot is prime land with a legit chance at bucks as big as you could ever hope for in our state so going elsewhere is counter productive. Lastly I have stated many times that we bought our place for hunting and better bucks no doubt........but the primary reason we bought it was to extend our days in the woods with our dad. Try as hard as you want but you will NEVER convince me that was a waste of money.
You are clueless. That was an awesome trip!!!........loved every minute of it. Jumped in the truck with my brother and hit public land we've never seen before and had multiple encounters with good bucks and took what we could in 3 days. Met loads of great people and would do it again in a heartbeat. Try this one if all you care about is antlers........don't read the story as it won't interest you http://forums.bowhunting.com/bowhunting-talk/40770-my-2012-new-york-halloween-buck.html BTW............feel free to take me up on my bet. Here's a better pic of my brother from last year too so he's not left out.
Its a four legged animal for goodness sake.... Real simple formula..... hunt where big bucks live and hunt hard
