The top dawg in town is Freak Daddy. Has been for a few years now. But there's another king of the forest around my parts that nobody messes with. And his name is the "Halloween Buck".

The story began in 2007, when i captured this picture over a mock scrape line:

He was either a hella nice 2.5 or a small 3.5, either way i didnt pay it too much attention at the time, there were bigger bucks running around. I saw him once from the road, and possibly once from the field in 2007. I cant be 100% positive this is the same buck, but he is VERY similar in rack and body size, as well as location.

Then on Halloween night 2008, i captured these famous photos:

The legend was born and the name stuck. He has a very prominent droptine on the right main beam. He was seen around the area a few times, including once in a field breeding a doe by a neighbor.

Rumors flew all summer of a monster buck in the area with a single droptine, and i knew who it was. I captured some early video of him in July:

I immediately put a trail cam in the area. I had to get some pics of this bad boy. After awhile, he showed:

What a freaking monster. This buck has never been camera shy, and a series of photos from this week show that even thought he may be old (possibly 5.5) he IS killable. Unlike his cousin FD ;)

Target #2 will by hunted all day tomorrow, Friday the 6th of November. Hopefully a new chapter can unfold and i can lay eyes on him again.

What are the odds that this, and FD are of the same make?

They look tooo close in age for this one to be from him.

Ya'll have too many dman deer in your town... All we have are a bunch of small vegetarian dogs.

Brace yourself for this montage of antlers:

2006, this buck was simply named MONSTER:

Split brows, long beams, points sharing same base...

Also 2006, my cousin shot this buck:

Split brows with junk, long beams, gnarly points....

The King himself, FD, in 2008:

He has freaking everything too. Long beams, split and junky brows, points with same base.

    Halloween buck this year:

Not to mention FD JR from this year:

They all have similarities. Split and junk covered brow tines, LONG sweeping beams, points with the same bases, kickers (especially off the G2)

    All the same blood, IMO.

Nice buck. Love those tall antlers
Congratulations to your daughter and yourself.

I understand about the temperature. It has been in the upper 70s with heavy fog here all this week.

    No.

There is no public hunting land by me, besides a 300 acre DNR wildlife area.
