It seems as if NC has been completely saturated with above average rainfall the last two weeks. How do you think the rain affects rutting behavior as it would be harder for scent to travel and hold on leaves? Surely, they still rut, but do you think that the bucks have to travel more to be within range and find a "hot" doe or do you think that the rut is prolonged?
After two days of steady rain, I plan to get out there in the morning as the front should begin pushing out. If I wake up and it's raining, back to sleep I go. Should definitely be out of here by Wednesday morning though. Hopefully a BBD update and lots of action in the morning.
I think the action gets real good when it stops raining. It knocks down all the old scent and the Bucks seem to hit the scrapes to freshen them up and start cruising to find fresh doe scent. Thats just what ive noticed. Someone correct me if im wrong.
Makes sense to me too, I've never thought about that. I had the alarm set for 5:15 this morning but couldn't get out due to the storms. It's on tomorrow morning.
