Not to be antagonistic or anything but why do you feel this is BS? He signed bills into law that says both private and state employees are not mandated to join a union in order to be employed. Are you saying that those who do not want to be union members or pay union dues should not be eligible for employment in Michigan?

Sounds to me like they got their heads out of their asses. Makes perfect sense to me. Why force a union on anyone? If unions actually provide the service they say they do, then why are they so afraid of letting workers choose?

I honestly don't know how they had the legal grounds to not be right to work for so long.

Hey.. I'm retarded.. I mean retired. I don't care. I had to join a union when I was in college so I could work in this grocery store. I hated it when every pay day they took a bunch of my check for Union dues. So, when I left I wanted a uniion card. They told me I wasn't elligible because I was part time. Now how in the hell is that fair. Take my money and tell me I'm not worthy. I hope I see the day that unions die. LOL I had to pay dues to the Butchers union... but wasn't wanted. Go figure.

At one point in my business there was a movement to form a union of dry cleaning people. I told them fine... do what you want...BUT ... you will no longer be paid to finish early and go home. You no longer will get a lunch on me everyday. You no longer will be allowed a liberal policy on taking a day off with pay. Several of you will probably not be needed. I had 19 employees at the time. Most of my employees worked 25-33 hours a week. I paid them for 40. I went a 5 year span without loosing an employee... and when I lost that one it was because her husband, who was a spook, got transferred to Nevada. He'd disappear for a few days, few weeks and in one case 2 months. He came home on crutches from South America. Anyway.... they quickly canned the idea of unionizing.

I agree also, the one news guy said it best. Let the unions prove their worth to their members.

What a sham this law was ever passed in the first place.

Shows the power of unions to phuck the American workers for their own benefits. Much like their politician. IMO

Making me proud to call it my home state again.

Well it's real simple, if you dont want to work at a place that has a union, you dont try to get a job there!

Let me break it down for you, If you don't like the thought of sticking your finger up another man ***, don't go to school to be a proctologist.

Yes I can see where the thought of paying employees minimum wage with no benefits would get you excited.

I usually do not chime in on polictal issues, but in this case I will. From what I been reading in different forums no one understands what this means. I have no issues with someone not joining the union as long as they do not receive any of the benefits the union may be able to negotiate. I have worked in both work enviiornments and can truly say neither was better then the other. Any organization is only as good as its people. I may be a bit old fashioned but it always boils down to doing the right thing. Greed and those with the most money always seem to win out.

If it were not for business who would these unions be getting all their benifits from in the first place?

The unions should try putting on their big boy pants and purchase their own health insurance, save for the own retirement, and get paid what the job is worth. Some hires you to dig a ditch they shouldn't be forced to adopt you.

In the real world we call it taking responsibility for youself. Try it.

Amen. It amazes me how union members think that this country cannot survive without them. This is not 1960. We do not need you sucking corporations dry anymore and forcing them to either close or move overseas. I have guys/gals installing 6 bolts, and some 8, making $29 an hour plus free benefits. Yeah, that makes sense. About time Michigan makes the move. Hoping IL. is next.

This simple, yet efficient sentence sums it up.

How do union members do not take reponsiblity for themselves? Explains this please

The law really won't change anything IMO, because those in an Union like the benifits they get and will say yes I want to stay.
