Yeah we're off to a pretty slow start but I'm not too concerned. Most of us haven't really even started hunting yet. I'm going down south this weekend but its just for does or turkeys. After that my buck season will start. Bucks have almost rubbed my woods raw and I'm going next weekend up to some land that's never been hunted.

Sat last night didn't see a deer, wind made it impossible to hear. The trail cam by this stand had 4 different bucks on it. The big guy is now on both my cams and he showed up at 8:40 pm. So he's getting earlier. Sitting again tonight in my other stand on this land.

I moved my camera yesterday on the private property I live on from one side to the other. When I got to the area I wanted to hang my camera I heard 2 bucks sparring about 150 yards away. I couldn't see them but know where they were. On such a small property they are starting to get very territorial. I'm pumped to learn there is a second buck around, hopefully big. On the down side, the 9 I have been getting pictures of got all jacked up and isn't so much a 9 any more. Pretty bummed. here are before and after pics. On a positive note just over 3 weeks to Woodson county KS!

That is to bad, he was a very nice buck. I had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago. A 155" plus 11 pointer, that i had a cam for 3years in a row. Then the last year I had him om cam in November he lost both brow tines, G2,G2 and G3 one one side. That when I said next year and last year I never got a pic of him. So there must be another big one around.

Haha, I didn't realize we were in last place. I'm' not worried at all, but it is pretty funny. Hunting doesn't get serious for me until tomorrow. Even then the concentration this weekend will be on turkey, but if a doe walks by I'll let one fly her way. There's a 12 pointer running around the property I'm going to but he's not mine to shoot.

That sucks about the horns, that was a very nice deer. I'm always worried my target will come up all broken and mangled. Hopefully you have a couple more. I'm curious to see what is running around my woods that is rubbing all my trees up. It's pretty neat to see actually.

Sat last night, had a doe come in to about 30 yards. She stood there for about 15 min look around and smelling the air. Then turned around and walked back the way she came from. 15 Min later heard another deer walking and grunting in the swamp behind me. So the rut is starting here in southeastern Wisconsin. Back out tomorrow and then everyday until a deer is down or gun season starts on Nov 19th. The woods are going to be even more fun to sit in now.

It's really heating up here too. I can barely walk 30 feet in my little woods without seeing a tree that's rubbed up.
Also, I talked to a friend of mine last night who hunts on a mecca of deer and he said they're starting to follow, chase, and become more aggressive.

I sat on a spot of private land Wednesday night. Saw a doe about 50 yards away and watched it jump and fence and then come back and jump the same fence. No chance at a shot, but she had no idea I was there at least. It was my first time on the land and I set up where the other guy hunts from. Not sure if it's a good spot or not, but I didn't want to make too much noise or possibly bump deer cause it's such a small spot.

Field and Stream said Monday was supposed to be one of the good days for hunting. I'm thinking about either taking off that day or getting in and out of work super early. I think I'll probably go hit up public land that day, hopefully I get a chance at the six or the eight that we've seen roaming around over there.

I'm heading down to Iowa to hunt a buddies farm for pheasants this weekend and I have a Iowa State vs. Kansas game that I'm going to next weekend. All my hunts are going to have to be during weeknights this next week. Hopefully I can get on two or three of them. Wish I had some of the private land you guys had, especially with all the sign they've got in them.

Heading out real early tomorrow am. I was pretty bummed about the broken antlers of the 9 I was after he was my target buck. Thankfully I decided to move my camera to test a new area I'm hunting in the am. Guess the 9 wasn't the dominant buck by any means...

Hey guys, any luck this weekend yet? My trip south was a bust. The only deer I saw was a buck that about ran out in front of me. I did see a couple turkey but they were about 100 yards off. This morning I went out but had a pack of coyotes come through and pretty much ruined that. Worst yet, couldn't even get a shot off on one.
Well I'm going to mess with the kids then get ready to head out this evening.

I got a couple of sits in this weekend. My sit on Saturday morning was the most exciting however. I saw four different bucks, but only one was what I considered a shooter. It was somewhere around at 140" 10-pointer that was just out of range. I won't be able to get back at it til next weekend because of school, but I plan on getting 2 or 3 sits in hopefully.

Well I sat Saturday a.m., which was a great mourning to be in the woods. Only saw one little 5 pointer around 9:20. Had trick to treat Sat. night so didn't get to sit. Sat yesterday in the a.m., a bit on the windy side and did not see a deer. On the way back to the car found a very nice scrape, with a great trail in both directions. So I went to the store and picked up another stand, headed back around 3 p.m. to hang it in the rain and wind. Around 4:10 was up in the stand trimming some branches. Heard a twig break behind me turned around to see the legs and body of a deer walking away. So finished up trimming got all my stuff and started back to the car. Heard a deer take off so I stopped in between two rows of cedar trees. Next thing I see is a fork horn running at me. He gets within about 10 feet before he see me and take a 90 deg turn, like hell on wheels. To top it off I found where I was stands where so many scrapes I couldn't count them all and 6-8" dia. trees all rubbed up. I think I found the bucks travel corridor. Can't wait to sit that stand. Heading out to one of my other stands tonight.

Well found out I am no longer going to ks to hunt. The a****** whose property I was supposed to hunt on lied about our agreement and has had people hunting out of my stand. It basically comes down to the fact that he can't be trusted. My best friend who is this guys brother in law did a lot of work finding a good location on the property and setting up a stand for my trip. Now the guy has his buddies hunting out of it. I better be getting my deposit back real soon. Pretty pissed/ bummed. Been planning the trip for a rear.

Ah man that SUCKS! Yeah pissed is an understatement. I guess not much you can do except try and get your deposit back and go on.
Is there a way you can hunt public ground near that location maybe?

I could hunt public ground but I could only get doe tags at this point. I had planned on getting landowner tenant tags hunting on the private land which is much cheaper and no lottery for buck tags is involved. All this happening so late kind of ruined any shot of an alternative. Yes pissed is an understatement. Both me and my buddy want to rip this guys head off.

    Ah yeah man that sucks.

Well I have this guy on cam, quite a bit more now actually. It looks like he's the one that's rubbing up all my trees.

    So what do you think, a 120s / 130s? I was hoping for 140s but I don't think he's nearly that big.
