My dogs roll in stuff too. Mostly just before we have to go somewhere. They don't do it now that I know of because everything is frozen and it is to cold for my female to go looking. She is the worst one for that.
When something like this shows up on the trail camera and you can't fully make it out but know that wild cats are not known in your area...
Pretty good pic of a Cougar you have there. Your local F&G department would likely be interested in seeing this pic if they aren't known to be in the area.
Now that you say that, I can see that, too. Yikes! This is the NW corner of PA - NE corner of Ohio - right on the line. OND - husband is going out to grab the card out of the camera. This is the only picture that was sent to the phones. If it's a bobcat - I never seen one this big before.
speckling on the legs, black tip on ear. The ? mark is I can't tell if that's a tail. I'm not a cat expert but I think you got a lynx or a really damn big bobcat. I don't think that's a cougar with those speckles.
I'm hoping the SD card has more pictures. I tried zooming in, too. I also thought I seen speckling - but not too sure as it is night time and the picture quality isn't greatest when zoomed.
If it not too late, have your husband stand in the same spot as the cat for a height reference; his height vs top of the cat's back. I agree with @dnoodles assessment; lynx, maybe big bobcat. Comparing heights would make guessing the size of the cat more realistic.
damn, that's a big bobbie. Only one I have ever seen in the wild was not any bigger than a big barn tomcat.
Yeah, I have only seen 2. Both were about the size of a small coyote. Put a coyote on a set of red fox legs. I need to ask my aunt if she wants the one roaming around her property gone. Probably hard to get a tag right now, but it's only like $5 non refundable application fee or something like that.
I have gotten lots of pics of bobcats and that's certainly what that is if it's not a lynx. Without size reference it's a little hard could just be a full grown one ready for winter.
He already went out - but not sure what he found out (I'm at work). Let me see if I have a deer picture from that spot for size reference. ETA;
I'd say it's a bobcat also. We've got quite a few of them around here. I've seen some that would probably push 35 pounds.
