I saw snow... Last year, it flurried for about 15 minutes. I also saw it above 10k feet on Colorado, last year. I had my fill of snow through college, and moved south... I don't regret that move one bit.
Choppers are great. Especially if you have a good wool liner. I have several. Leather and fleece, nylon and Thinsulate. Added a wool liner to both. The best part is you can add a Hothands hand warmer between the layers to keep your hands warm. Place it on the back of your knuckles and drive the heat into your fingers. Learned this while driving for a motorcycle escort service. Yes, drove a motorcycle in the dead of winter. But, you need to use your fingers for certain things. For many years my Grandma bought us a pair of gloves every year for Christmas from Menards. Didn't appreciate them at the time. Threw them in the closet. She's been gone for 20 years. Now on my last pair. Not sold locally anymore. Luckily I found several pairs over the summer in local thrift stores, for a couple bucks. Good for a few more years. Much like these. https://www.airgas.com/product/Safe...lxs5vkQJvS9Mp3H6PRg7OL4ujqb-cvZhoClmIQAvD_BwE
Stimulus checks seem to do that. And most were happy to see them. The prices on most everything the past 6 months have eaten up those checks. Let's Go Brandon.
mothereffer. So I hear a clunking and a clanging out front, go to look out the window and I see the asshat city plow driver lining up a nice pile of snow, and then he intentionally pushed it into my driveway. I am dead effing serious. I seriously wanted to shoot the sumbitch.
Back to the rant.... Ordered an archery item on Ebay. Came in a timely fashion and happy with it. The seller included a flier in the package. Order directly from our website. Less money, free shipping on anything over 25.00 and a code for 10% off for Dec. Well...Duh! Only a couple states away. Great. Took a look and ordered several items. A week later, 7 days, I receive an email saying my debit card didn't go though. The same one used in the Ebay transaction. The same one used to buy gas, groceries and beer. Worked fine. The money is there. The problem isn't on my end. Said I needed to call to straighten it out. Leery of scams but, it's listed all over the web. Same number. Busy. I know it's the holidays but this was ordered on the 21st. Takes a week for you to run a card? Would I be the ******* if I told them to cancel the order and buy somewhere else?
Oh how I wish. I've threatened several. I live on the south side of a bend in the road. The north side has 2-3 foot retaining walls. Guess which way they plow it? 3 inches of snow and they use a shovel. I can't get my car out of the driveway! Try 10 inches or more.
Years ago, I had gotten up early to blow snow because the wife had an appointment she had to get to. I go to work. She gets ready to leave an hour later. Gets in the garage and hit the garage door opener just to see the snow grader go by and bury her. She grabs the shovel but the pile he dumped is taller than she is. She runs him down while waving the shovel. He stops. She chews him out. I can imagine he got an ear full of some of the nastiest words he has ever heard. She then told him to go back and clean out his mess and she would refrain from beating him to death with the shovel. The guy is 6'5" and she is 5' 3 3/4". She is very proud of that 3/4". He did go back and clean the driveway out !! After that he was very careful when going by my place.
The grader always piled on our side too. He would come down the east/west road, round the corner and be pushing a wall of snow by the time he hit my place. Was nothing to have a 4 - 5' pile in both my driveways. He wasn't happy going by once but would do it a couple times. By the time I got home, they were always rock hard and a bastard to chop/snow blow through.
Not really a rant for me but one for the daughter and son-in-law. They left Florida and were only supposed to have one stop on their flight back in Minneapolis, MN. Not sure what happened but the plane stopped in Detroit which made them late for their plane that was leaving Minneapolis to Grand Forks, ND. Since they missed their plane, Paul was able to rent a car and drove 6 hours to get to Grand Forks. Said the roads were not great and the car was a piece of **** on ice. So instead of driving the last 80 miles to our place, they stayed in Grand Forks tonight because they couldn't get their luggage until tomorrow morning which somehow made it on the plane they missed. They are both fuming.
I used to have that happen when I lived in the city. Even though I had a powerful snow blower, that snow that is rolled over by the plow sets up almost like concrete. Now besides plowing out my bar and home, I plow our 1/2 mile easement as well. We live at the very end. I always clear the ends of the two driveways that share the easement when I'm finished plowing. Even though I'm a super nice guy and fun to be around, I do not plow their driveways. Just clear the ends that I have filled.
12 vehicles in the ditch off I 94 this morning, luckily it was a single cars so nobody got taken out by another idiot.
