People not controlling their dogs. I bought my wife an Australian Shepherd puppy for Mother's day. It's almost 5 months old now. She took it to a small recreation area about 4 miles from here for a walk earlier. I was watching television when I got a call from my our daughter. She was on the phone with my wife when dogs attacked. My daughter was freaking out so it took about 30 seconds to get the basic idea of what was happening. According to my daughter she just heart my wife say "Oh s**t and then start screaming "No!". Then she heard the unmistakeable sound of a dog fight with my wife screaming and then my daughter hung up to call me. I tried to call my wife as I was grabbing my closest pistol (10mm) but she didn't answer, so I jumped in the truck and flew there. I'm not kidding when I say I was tearing down the 2 mile gravel road at 70 mph and I was pushing 90 on the pavement. I tried to call my wife again when I got going and still got no answer. As I was pulling into the recreation area my wife called me back. As it turns out the dogs that attacked were small terriers, she and the pup were fine (with the exception of a few scratches) and she was on the way home. The part that ticks me off most is that the folks who owned the three dogs just stood and watched this happen.
Oh, and I'm just having a great day. I just got a letter from the Missouri Department of Revenue telling me they never got a tax return for 2018 and that I owe them $10,410 in taxes for that year. I sort of turned white until I saw the year. I retired in August 2018 and moved to MO in October 2018. Since I retired I have had no income other than my Military Retirement which isn't taxable here. My wife didn't even move here until 2019. She lived and worked in Tennessee until 2019. According to the Missouri Department of Revenue website I wasn't required to file a 2018 return.
If it makes you feel any better, I had over an hour of sexual harassment training today. On top of HR orientation. Just shoot me. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I like how you stopped your story to tell us that your pistol was a 10mm……lol. Glad your wife and pup are ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We recently got notified by the Michigan Dept. Revenue that we neglected to redeem my wife's Michigan $2k+ tax return check for 2018. Letter said that we could request a replacement. Went back through our records, and sure enough we had never deposited the check. So we requested a replacement via the online portal where we went through like a 5-step verification process of our PII and pre-tax wages. About a month later, we get a letter saying we have to re-submit our 2018 W2s to 'support your claim of tax witheld.' ...so, let me get this straight- they know we were entitled to the refund, contacted us and notified us of such, we requested a replacement check, now they want us to re-file? We already validated our PII and income. I mean, we'll do it, it's $2,000 and paying for most my our bathroom remodel. But FFS....government redundancy at its finest.
My farm is close to a small town and apparently at one time even closer to a pit bull breeder with crappy easy to get out of pens. At the time I had cattle and would occasionally catch one chasing them, that is a shoot on sight with no repercussions in Oklahoma. I was at the gas station one day and some idiot was chatting up the clerk complaining that his prize dogs kept getting stolen... if by stolen he meant hammered by a sweet shooting 204 Ruger he was correct. I hate shooting dogs and would much rather shoot the owner for putting me in those situations.
I haven’t had to shoot a dog yet but if the time ever comes it’ll be a shoot, shovel, shut up evolution.
