So today driving home and I pass a truck with a snowmobile trailer and the trailer is loaded with 4 oak tree trunks that are over 24-28" the drivers side trailer wheel is gone the guy is going what seemed like 60 mph, I passed and thought holy **** glad I did not hit by the tire. I go by and look in the rear view mirror and the guy just kept driving, looked like he did not even slow down.

Having to send out an email to all the salesmen that drive a wrapped company trucks about representing the company while in said truck when on the road after someone called in complaining that someone gave them the finger and shouted a couple of obscenities at them.

It was me, I gave that idiot the finger and let them know how bad they suck at driving...

My job is to manage our sales reps in North America, I have also taken over the in house applications staff. I call them applications staff but they think of themselves salespeople. They get commission for sitting in their cubical answering the phone. Some idiot (a general manager I had issues with) decided to come up with a commission structure that incentivized application staff not notifying reps of quotes in their territories. I called a sales meeting and explained that this is not the case any longer you will get more sales with the reps following up vs hiding the quote. Oh sure they are resisting but I am the one with my ass on the line and significant investment so guess what either comply or go work on your resume.

And we are talking about 1 half of 1 % in commission. What kind of idiot devalues the reps involvement in sales. I will tell you what kind a guy a that worked for intel in south africa that was going to show a small business how it is done, home school valedictorian. So glad I spent a half hour explaining that he does not ask enough questions about what he knows nothing about before he submitted his resignation. Almost as sweet as making a man cry, he just quit.

No I was at a business dinner with this clown and he told the story about his mother saying Rome was not built in a day only because he was not involved. You can not use compliments your mother gave you as a child to build credibility to your working resume.

Hell as a coach I hated 2nd place trophies my son threw them in the garbage can when we got home, he used that feeling in his gut from losing to motivate himself to win the big trophy. No pity, motivation.

Many a night when driving team mates home we were quiet about the outcome, after the last kid was dropped off I would be brutally honest about shortcomings on the team and the coaching staff, guess what recognizing accountability pays off.

When you lose that feeling in your gut and head, use that as motivation to work harder instead of a pity party.

Got the call last night that my processor has my deer ready. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

Except that they are 80 miles away and that county has a winter storm today. Dammit.
