Department wide email stating no one is allowed leave from Nov 2 to 9. I sure as hell hope they honor my pre-approved leave that Ive had up for 6 months. Stupid damn extremist Americans continuing on this horrible 2020.
That would piss me off, I have had it happen a few times for work over the years. I usually was successful the first sit after my work obligation was done.
Mowed the yard yesterday one last time before surgery. Opened the gate at the alley to mow behind it. Get to the corner of property and see this laying on neighbos side. Last thing needed is junkies dieing in the alley.
Lightning safety recommendations; Got caught out in the open this evening when a big lightning storm came up. I know they say you’re supposed to avoid open fields and to stay away from trees but when you get caught in a surprise storm and are a 45 minute walk from a car or house what are your other options? Only way to avoid an open field is to walk in the woods and those are full of trees. When you’ve got a building or a car (or a really tall friend/acquaintance) nearby and a lightning storm comes up nobody f**king needs expert advice to know what to do. I wish one of the lightning experts would step the heck up and tell us what we should do when the only options are taking covers in the trees or staying as low as possible in an open field.
I stand with @jonderrs7. Whenever I have wood that needs to be driven home I always prefer screwing it instead of banging it. Especially if I am trying to fit it into a tight spot.
Waking up to a cup of coffee and I hear what sounds like 1000 construction crew members driving 100000 nails into some homes up the road. They must be sensing 10 days of rain coming. My goodness...either that or someone is drunk at 745am and is indiscriminately banging his hammer against a truck.
^^^ Well, I woke up to NO coffee this morning after having went to the store for some groceries yesterday! Just got back from said store 20 minutes ago now all is good again.
Crouch down into ball and ride it out. Not really anything else you can do unless there is a rock ledge or something to get under.
I know first hand...drop ANY METAL and run like hell. Kid in our town on college review trip. It was sunny and they heard lightening. He had his saint Christopher's metal on. Lightening struck his metal and killed him right there. That stuck with me, I wont even wear my wedding ring.
Verbal restraint ( other than spouse)with a sarcastic Family member, Is getting more and more difficult with age.
Yes it was and such a tradgity. That thunder was in the distance yet lightening struck him, gives a whole new meaning to when it's your time......It was a high school sponsored trip so he was with a bunch if other kids. The only one struck.
Meteorologists. These mf'ers cant seem to get it right. So now I'm calling to reschedule those that I just rescheduled bc of last weeks rain. Damn you Arkansas! But on a good note.. I scored some private to hunt on around Beaver Lake east of Rogers, big old growth white oak with a bunch of persimmon mixed in. So the rain should be good for the mast.
Meteorologist is pretty much the only job out there where you can be wrong over half the time and still not get fired.
