Are the 'rainbow books' still a thing? 1000 yrs ago, I used to be a sysprog on gov mainframes and had to deal with that crap.

I'm so glad to not be dealing with that craziness any longer.

80% of these products will not stay in the US. There is only one other production facility in the US. They will get a small (volume wise) portion of what is leaving.

Sota thanks for doing your job;)

The issue is not thanking every day, it's the snarkiness the .001% something did not work they what the user "thought" it should.

#1 solution idea from IT, "Did you reboot your computer?"

Yeah, got that to my help request as I was internally blocked from using a customers designated 3PL site.

Like so many other things in my job, I'd have to google that one. Ha! Most everything is going cloud. Azure, AWS, etc. Most traditional IT jobs are on a limited time frame now. Most of my colleagues agree less than 15 years. Better start polishing up on Cloud certs.

Ah, yes. Now all of that is consolidated and updated and resides online under FISMA (800-53 for starters). If you can't sleep, reading all the controls will definitely make you drift off quickly enough.

I love IT guys. I have two different work computers and a work phone. All those have to integrate with numerous programs which all contain their very own passwords. When something goes bad, it all goes to crap and makes my day miserable. Long live the IT guys that have helped me not pour a pot of coffee on top of a computer.

I caught a lot of flack when i was in IT as a network admin, bc I actually don't really like computers and never cared to tinker around with them. To me they are a tool. One that breaks. A lot. One of my old coworkers, and still close friends, and I both got a lot of weird looks when we would say I hate computers!

Going back to the post that started this all.... there is a reason person why that’s the the first solution.

and she has a name... Kevin.

And in case you are wondering there are no typos in that - Kevin and she we’re both intentional.

One trick I have picked up in the last couple of years. My niece is fired up about archery just turned 7 and already has three bows from Uncle Bob. What does this have to do with anything. I can spend money like crazy at Lancaster and my wife thinks it's for the niece. Effing brilliant stroke of luck.

Almost forgot to rant! Now I have to figure out before I purchase these why my niece needs them! Screenshot_20200729-203801_Chrome.jpg

Anybody know how to make homemade whipped cream with a mixer? Attempted to make it tonight and totally failed. Tried it three times, went through 1-1/2 gallons of cream and still no whipped cream. Two attempts turned into what I believe is butter. The third attempt resulted in some form of gritty sugar-slime. Anybody know what I am doing wrong? My grandpa used to make delicious whipped cream and it looked super simple when he was doing it. Just put heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl and whip it for a minute or so with the mixer and it was done. Not once did his turn into crunchy slime.

The trick is to build up the emulsion slowly in a mixer. If you just kick it on high it'll make butter. With a chilled mixing bowl ad your sugar and vanilla and do it by hand a couple times, it's super easy. Or next time put the mixer on like 4 not 10 definitely dont turn it up to eleven.

Haha... this one goes to 11! that’s one faster than 10.

My ancient Hobart has a mechanical transmission with gears and a shifter so it actually only has 3 speeds to choose from and I’m pretty sure I screwed up second gear a couple years ago trying to mix beef fat into some ground venison. Ever since then it is really hard to get it to shift from first to second and it makes a heck of a racket if you turn it on in that gear so I try to only use It in first and third gear.

I am starting to think I might have to fix that second gear or invest in a new mixer if I want whipped cream in my future.

    If you've never been...
Off the outer banks, some great fishing as NC juts out so close to the gulf stream...
