So I heard about a website called AITA, am I the a hole. People type in the rant and other people post if the OP is an a-hole. I read few a couple and figured I don't need to ask.
complete white out this AM; 70 car pileup on one highway and my 3 routes to work were also all closed with wrecks/detours at one point or another. Took me an hour and a half to drive 25 miles. At least I was getting paid I guess.
Related... In NC we have a lot of poultry (and pork) processors. With restaurants closed, there is no demand (farmers would probably getting paid nothing, except poultry farmers work under contract for processors). Processors dumping product direct to the public for about 50 cents on the dollar... I.e. Boneless skinless chicken breast for about $1/lb Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
What's a contract mean in this pandemic? Farmers in WI have contracts with their producers yet the producers are not taking the milk per contract. Some farmers have to dump milk. Processors would not be allowed to do what NC does as there is a 6% minimum markup law in this state.
Yep offered him half of what they're "worth". We have been getting our chicken and pork from a restaurant supply place. 40# boxes and the usual whole loin. They are swamped. They are also selling all the other bulk foods usually going to restaurant customers. We split it amongst the family. I think though as this goes along processors will try to take advantage of the situation. Wait wait did I read a dollar??? Ya good ole NYS! we got ours 1.80 and that was a good price.
Need a break from life, have a lot of PTO time, can't go to the beach, mountains/national forest or the Appalachian trail. If I see a bearded turkey on Saturday, he may be in trouble... Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
I do that at Cabelas and Bass Pro but in my defense, when I can save over $200 including shipping costs.. Buds Guns it is. And the guys at Bass Pro are some turds anyway, so why not waste their time.
Fair. Most contracts I'm involved with indicate one party needs to inform the other of such declaration and include a clause for impacts from such declaration e.g. Contract is voided. In which case its in both parties interest to have a plan 'B' (c, d, e, f & g... as this event reminds us)... Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
I would bet those notifications have been made. Along with the producer now offering significantly less money per 100 wt now that there is a surplus of raw milk. The farmer is caught in a cycle he can't control. He is contracted to provide x amount of milk per month to his producer with a tolerance. If he doesn't supply the minimum, he looses money. If he supplies over the max, he looses money. I would bet, the ones dumping milk are the ones who are near or over their monthly max. Or it is an effort to reduce the supply to get the price back up. In either case, this benefits the megafarms and hurts the small family farms (what are left of them). But I digress.
I can't recall, is USDA's milk program (subsidy?) to the farmer or producer? Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
