I wouldn't share that if I were you, it's only a matter of time until we are all one ill timed sneeze away from getting tossed into "involuntary quarantine".
I've said to my wife, it's surreal to live in a time where there is a stigma to sneeze, cough or buy toilet paper
Rant Du jour: novice telecommuters This whole work from home / remote has unleashed a whole new round of chaos due to newbies just starting to telecommute.
Lots of companies are finding out that their internet pipe isn't big enough to handle hundreds of high activity VPN sessions!
Or finding out that some employees don't have internet at home. I just discovered that two of mine don't have the internet at home. Can't really expect them to go out and get it on their own dime, but if buy their internet so they can work it is kind of screwing over everyone else who has to pay for their own. So basically I am going to have to start paying for all 20 employees' internet which means that my costs have gone up by $20k per year so far and we are only one day into the shutdown.
Government wanting to give us money to help. It's my money anyways you aholes. Giving me money like it's a treat. Yeah
Yep and they will find a way to get back the money they are planning to “give” people now. I can only imagine how many checks will be stolen from mail boxes on the day of delivery? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It isn't really practical option with our system. We use a hosted cloud based agency management system so even when somebody is working in the office they are still logging into a Remote Desktop that contains all of our customer files. Also, we use a VoIP phone system which is great because everyone just takes their office phone home with them and plugs it into the internet and it'll function exactly like it is sitting in the office. Problem is that all of that results in a pretty significant amount of data usage and even the unlimited cellular data plans have soft limits where once you exceed 20gb or so in a month they throttle your speed down significantly. Between the dual monitor Remote Desktop, local scanning and printing lots of large files to/from the server, and near constant talking on their VOIP phone a single employee uses around 4-5 GB per day and the VoIP and remote desktops don't have a lot of tolerance for the internet speed dropping in or out or the latency lagging (imagine trying to use a mouse when the cursor has a 1-2 second delay or talking on the phone when there is a big delay between you and the person on the other end).
Won't happen at my place - I have already volunteered to be the bookmaker for the household and without any sports the arrival time of the mailman will probably be the main event most days. There is could be as much as 3 dozen, maybe even 4 dozen, rolls of TP riding on the over/under so you can be sure the whole damn house will be watching that mailbox.
Yeah, this is worse...borrowing money they don't have + paying a couple T to cover swaps/repos (likely not what you think unless you work in fin svcs), company bail outs, etc Hello deficit! CHA-CHING !
White trash I don't know of a trash hauker anywhere that accepts loose bag pick up streetside. Started as 1 bag Friday morning. Now at least 8.
Damn SotaPop, that was meant to be a " hand- shake" of sorts. Oh well, guess you didn't get it. Carry on.
