Not true, all you need is the thought of snow and chaos ensues. Schools close because it's too cold outside. I grew up in New England with some good snow storms and a few blizzards, the S show down here is insane. The crappy part about getting snow down here is that it warms up enough to melt then freeze again. Not one DOT in the south seems to have ever thought about a semi-decent plan to handle the ice here. It's a cluster F.
I grew up in Canada and my parents still live in Alberta, although I am in Arkansas now. We visited my parents for Christmas. The day after Christmas we drove up into the Canadian Rockies to spend the day playing hockey on a frozen lake and go for a sleigh ride. There was a foot of snow and it was -4F. If that happened in Arkansas, I am confident my family and I would be the only survivors.

OND, did you convert your car from drum brakes to disc brakes? Even if it were a direct replacement for original it looks like you needed everything, brake lines, backing plates, master cylinder, proportioning valve etc. Now I see why it was a $1600 job. Are you sure you never felt anything earlier?

Late 80's I worked for an environmental consultant back when all the steel gasoline underground storage tanks were replaced. I spent 3 weeks a month traveling all over Wisconsin for a couple years. I always noted the number of old farmsteads especially barns that were well kept and maintained. Green Lake was one of my favorite towns.

That looks like it has a similar design to what I have on my car. The regular stopping brakes are all disk brakes but instead of using the rear calipers for the parking brake they machine the inside surface of the rotor’s “hub” and the parking brake is connected to a small drum brake that fits in the center of the rotor.

That's exactly what it is. I can see the extent of the bill now. Not only a 4 corner brake replacement but probably did both axle seals and bearings as well since they pulled the axles anyway. I'm kind of surprised they did not do a line replacement as well, that rear line looks pretty crudded up replacing them sucks though. Had to do that once and it eas about as bad as replacing the A/C line to a rear unit on an econoline van.
I'm not big on conspiracy, but when you knew ahead of time he would somehow die while in jail before being tried and then it actually happens, it raises serious questions. Add in all the events since. Falsification of watch records, cellmate being removed, being taken off suicide watch only days after being placed on it, video footage goes missing then is found, camera malfunctions during the time of the event, other footage deleted "accidentally". Just like the Smollett charge drop, when something seems amiss it is because it is. Smollett is still in hot water as a judge has ordered google to surrender all his emails and electronic info, and no one is even talking about it anymore.
