My wife doesn't care if one of the boys pukes on her when he is sick. She will change diarrhea diapers without complaint. When fishing, she will bait her own hook and help clean the fish if there is a lot of them. She is perfectly fine with me processing a deer in the kitchen. I have a great wife and I know it. But, she will leave the dead cockroach that she killed, lying in the middle of the bathroom floor for me to pick up after I get out of the shower because touching a dead cockroach with toilet paper and flushing it grosses her out. Really?
You are absolutely right! I just find it funny she can put up with all that, but a cockroach gets her!
My neighbor on the other side of the swamp. Last year we had a discussion and an agreement. I would not hang a stand near his house if he did not feed the deer during hunting season. This explains why many of the deer I was seeing seemed to disappear. Well if the guy enjoys seeing wildlife so much I am going to dump the deer remnants and guts right on the property line so he can watch the coyotes and raccoons.
Just took a quick break from hunting to run grab a bite to eat. Decided to try out the new hibachi express style place that just opened in town. I was eating my food and happened to look over at a nearby table occupied by a family of 4 rather large individuals. I happened to look at the perfect time because while I was watching the mom in the group opened up one of those little plastic dressing cups full of white sauce then picked it up and held it for a few seconds and as soon as the rest of the family was looking away she threw her head back and turned up the cup of sauce like she was at a bar taking a shot. I damn near choked trying not to burst out laughing.
I’d just call the DNR and let them deal with the neighbor then go hang your stands on wherever part of your property you want to hang them. As far as I am aware most, if not all, states don’t distinguish between “feeding” deer and baiting deer. Doesn’t matter if he hunts or not, if he is putting out deer feed, even if he just likes looking at them it’s still considered baiting. If he is trying to “save the deer” by keeping them away from other hunters then he may also be breaking laws related to interfering with hunters, most states have them but I think typically they are used for situations where somebody is driving around and honking the horn or walking a property line and yelling to scare them away from somebody hunting, not sure if they would apply to luring them away with bait.
The is no law against feeding deer in Minnesota other than the CWD area. The more I think about it though this may be an opportunity. The deer follow a narrow strip of land between 2 ponds. I might look around tomorrow to see if I can build a brush blind. Would be a shame if I shot a deer and it left blood stains by their feeder.
How close will the brush blind be to the feeder. Would you be hunting bait in the DNRs opinion? Be careful.
Just got a text from my son, he grilled up the loins from the deer he shot. He grilled them and put BBQ sauce on them as he grilled them said they were great. BBQ sauce on loins, thought I raised him better.
I will admit I do use steak sauce and sometimes ketchup but not on loins that I cut out of a deer I aged a week. My god you can cut them with a fork, just need seasoning.
