Don't hate on the Vegan Prius driving types. I used to sell organic firewood at the chapel hill farmers market and I made a small fortune off the them. I'd tie up bundles of logs real pretty with some sisal twine. I usually made them about half the size of the ones they sell at gas stations and grocery stores but I would sell them for $10 a piece and people bought the crap out of it. I had some customers who would show up every Saturday and pick up 5-10 bundles. Had one guy who even bought a half a truckload, delivered and stacked, for $600. It really was good firewood. All good hardwood, debarked, and cleaned up then seasoned inside a shed for 1.5 years so it was dry as all get out and burnt really hot. Still, it wouldn't have been worth more than 1/4 of what people were paying for it if it didn't have that organic label.
The wait. Dropped my bow off for tuning, new sight, stabilizer and rest. This is the first morning I havent done any shooting before starting my day. Shot my recurve a little yesterday but I have the jones for my compound..
So this week I am in Columbia SC, I got involved because a regional manager was super pissed about performance of our equipment she said it was junk. Her site people were not smart enough to provide data to trouble shoot. I get involved because when somebody is pissed they send me, 1 I can fix the equipment 2 I can be a charming SOB when needed. I get on site and diagnosed and corrected the problem in 10 minutes. The issue was gas migration into the controller, methane loves to attack copper I found the connections to the pump load monitor were corroded by methane, I restripped the wired and bingo the pump worked flawlessly. There was a high liquid level in the cell and when we pumped the level down and exposed more screen holy crap I have never seen methane flow at such a high volume and pressure. Long story short I babysat the system all day as the pump cycled flawlessly. End of the day do a conference call and the regional manager pretty much would not believe that I got is fixed that fast and it works, I was not impressed with her. I am going back in the morning to verify, some people.
Oh another rant I went back to the hotel and showered, walk back in the room, and the stench my god. My jeans are cotton, they reek like methane that smell never washes out of cotton. Damn it they didn't even have any holes or a skoal ring they were my "good jeans" I have to throw them away if I brought them home and washed them and when you open the washer it will smell, my wife would be pissed.
Called the wife and mentioned the jeans, she said do not even bring them home, then scolded me about those being my good jeans. And yeah they were like 2 weeks old, then again I have given up any form of pride and purchased the relaxed fit jeans, aka old bastard jeans.
This is an active cell only been putting loads in the cell since May. no way in hell it should be producing this much gas. I have been in landfills in 40 some states and 4 countries and I have heard of gas production like this but have never witnessed it personally.
Can not collect gas off an active landfill cell but they can not free release the gas, they need a flare to burn off the gas generated, luckily I know a company that makes solar powered flares, yep solved a problem and generated a sale.
The company that I retired from was located adjacent to a good sized land fill. We had an under ground pipeline from the land fill to our boiler house where the methane was burned off in our boilers.
A very ackward conversation with TSA is what led me to discover that there was an unusually high level of uranium in my well water.
