My boy's baseball game was canceled last night due to a last minute pop up thunderstorm 45 minutes before the game. Yet, the older kids still played after the storm passed... looks like we may be making up the game on Saturday, if at all. The season is supposed end this week. This really frustrating considering my wife and I intentionally put our kids in this league to keep our weekends free of sports.

    happy coffee rant-

give Folger's new 1850 brand series a try. Specifically the "Trailblazer" blend. Deep and rich without being acidic, kind of nutty, with a hint of caramel...mmmmmmm. Good stuff. Might be my favorite store bought coffee ever. As in I just added 5 bags to the weekly grocery delivery.

Not sure I want to put that much energy into drinking coffee searching for hints of nutty, caramel flavor, like beer shut up and drink it don't ask for an autumnal mead.

SOB I submitted a paper to present at at conference back in March, never heard anything after the deadline, was a little surprised that I was not asked to speak but I moved on and filled July with a couple of other conferences. Just found out I was selected so I get to present my paper on a tuesday in MO then get on a plane and get to LA for a conference that starts the next day. My travel schedule used to taper after June not anymore.

Regarding the coffee, you don't have to search for it, it's just there.
Only thing that pisses me off more than crappy coffee is...hmmm...
Let me get back to you on that.

Honestly I'm not even that picky so long as it's not watered down or tastes like pan fried tar boiled in battery acid I'm usually OK with it. But this stuff had me brewing a second pot this AM and digging through my hunting bins in the crawlspace to find my big Thermos to take with me to work.

And it's not even that expensive. $6/lb here

As far as beer, well- I dare say I've drank more Milwaukee's Best than any man alive, but doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good hippy hoppy beer now and then.

Buddy of mine recently sent me an old college pic with me and my friends. We had just completed the "century club". Like 8 or 9 beers in a little less than 2 hrs. My wife said, "geez that's a lot of beer" when she saw the pic of us in the middle of 100 Beast Lites. Haha....told her that it wasnt even 9pm in that pic.

me and my roommate's (that's singular) "pre-game" "Thirsty Thursday" ritual was to split a case of Mil Best Ice, THEN go to a house party or bar hopping. Or both.

I'm fairly certain that if I drank 12 Mil Best Ices these days I'd end up spending the next day with my head in a toilet. Or more likely sitting on the toilet with my face in the trashcan.

so Cocaine Mitch just introduced a bi-partisan Senate bill to raise the age of tobacco purchases to 21- nation wide.
Can someone please, please add an amendment to the bill to standardize what is and what is not considered an adult for everything? Parentally dependant on your parents' insurance policies until 26 yet the parents are only allowed to claim tax dependence until 18. Handguns, booze, and soon to be tobacco at 21. Long guns and voting at 18. Enlistment in the Armed Forces at 17. Abortions at 16.

    Freaking ridiculous.
