Can't you call your local hospital and ask what ortho surgeon they have that does the most shoulders? Then find out if they have had any malpractice issues listed on their record. Don't go with subordinate word, ask if you can speak with their head of surgery. Worst that can happen is they say sorry can't give info. Better yet, go to the local rehab places and ask them, they are the ones that deal with the aftermath of most surgeries.
Virginiashadow, condolences on your loss. May life show it's lighter side in the future for you and your family. Two things that I fall back on in life a teacher once said ,no matter how bad things get remember someone out there has it worse, think on that. The other is there is always something good in everything bad and that's what you have to look for. I've had a lot of bad thrown my way. It is difficult at times but you can find at least a tiny spark of good in some very dark places. Hang in there.
