Now even our modern day Congressmen talk like they are on twitter and facebook. 0 facts. Just spouting off at the mouth. Add this to the presses political slant and absolutely no one really knows what is true or not. Can't trust any of them to tell the truth. AOC---“ICE is a dangerous agency with 0 accountability, widespread reporting of rape, abuse of power, + children dying in DHS custody. Having a D next to your name doesn’t make that right.”
you guys want to see some fascinating, scary stuff as to where our country is headed check out JRE #1242 w/ Tim Pool. I had never heard of this kid but his views on society are spot on even though I disagree with some of his political leanings. Almost 3 hours long, but worth watching/listening to even if you have to break it up into chunks.
Everything having to be dumbed down!! So, been trying to get away from technology and get back into self thinking and mind sharpening activities. Crosswords, puzzles, etc.. Bought a few jigsaw puzzles with images I thought would be difficult. Opened up the first box and the back of every piece is letter coded for placement withing the finished image. I mean seriously, something that is supposed to challenge your brain, force you to focus and pay attention to detail now has a cheat sheet of sorts. Next they are going to end testing for anything in life as it may stress some out so much that they feel they may have to retain knowledge and then call upon it at a later date. I fear for our youth who will eventually have to survive as grown ups.
Use it or lose it. The less educated, independant, responsible, and self-conscious a person is, the easier it is to steer. And the more he depends on the oh-so-benevolent state, it's splendid represenentatives, and their handouts.
My condolences and heart felt sorrow goes out to the families devastated in last nights tornados. May God watch over you and all the responders.
Unbelievable! Today's need for immediate satisfaction has driven that. The younger generations don't like things that are difficult. They need to hit the "easy" button. Or, their short attention spans will lead them off to chase the next rabbit....err, squirrel. (sorry Sota)
I predict this story will be on Dateline on NBC one day. Shady friggin' family and richer than god. Some real Boss Hogg BS. https://www.islandpacket.com/news/local/crime/article227060784.html https://www.forbes.com/forbes/2002/0610/074.html#206a0a406575
congratulations, on your new governor, Michigan. You freaking idiots. https://www.freep.com/story/news/lo...itmer-budget-road-funding-options/3055987002/ nothing hits working class people harder than a gas tax. Nothing. 45 cents per gallon? Almost $10 extra per fill up. That's a straight kick in the balls. A Republican state congress is the only thing standing in the way. That's right. Republicans protecting the working class.
Same thing is about to happen in Wisconsin most likely. But, when roads were neglected state wide for the past 8 years and they are among the worst in the nation what do you expect. Some things cost money.
And some money is pilfered and transfered elsewhere instead of used for its intended purposes. IL is in line for a progressive income tax, another gas tax, considering a mileage tax, ammo tax, cigarette and vape tax and I'm sure there are a few I am forgetting. It's new money that will be misused and thwn they will need to raise taxes again to "recoup"the misapproproated money. It's a Democrat thing
sure they do, but a gas tax is pretty much the worst thing a state government can do to its economy. Hits everyone in the pocket book, sucks away expendable income (which takes away from sales tax revenue,) drives (no pun intended) up the cost of literally every consumer good, which in turn also hurts sales tax revenue. Michigan and Wisconsin both depend on tourism and travel to fuel (again no pun intended) the state economies and fuel taxes also put downward pressure on driving habits in general so there will be less pleasure tripping and actually less revenue generated via the fuel tax. When you want less of something the surest way to get it is to tax it. While I appreciate the egalitarian and flat nature of a fuel tax, even I can see how regressive the impact is. Rich people don't give a crap about the gas tax. But it makes a huge impact on working and low income people. If you have a 20 gallon tank, that's almost $10 more per fill up. You fill up 3x per week, now you are looking at about $100/mo, $1200/year taken out of your budget. That's real money. Not to mention the tax (at least in MI) also applies to diesel, so the cost to farm, transport goods, etc is going up to cover the costs of that; which in turn gets passed on to the consumer; where again the working class and poor are hardest hit. I travel a good bit in WI and with the exception of Milwaukee I never thought the roads were that bad. But I do know the roads in MI are horrific. However, a gas tax increase anywhere near that high is a horrific idea of how to pay for road improvements.
