What do you think it'll do to the price of copper once they start being "mast produced"? (Mass produced). Those big electric motors are 90% copper windings. Technology usually gets cheaper as it get's older and more developed and refined but the materials needed to make it are a finite resource.
And yeah, no way I would drive anything electric up north during winter. The batteries have progressed by leaps and bounds over the last ten years, getting better all the time. I don't think fully switching over to electric will happen in my lifetime but I think it will trend that way.
admittedly I've never worked on one, but I would imagine a lot of electrical components would be swapped plug/play- and you don't even need to get your hands all greasy and smelly. I don't care about that but a lot of non-mechanics do. I don't know crap about computer software; but I've fixed more than a few computers when hardware components went bad. Sota, I think what Germ is talking about is the curve of ownership costs. While I don't have the math in front of me there is a section of the curve where average cost of ownership is lower on the EOV- how long that lasts I have no idea. That curve probably has many peaks and valleys. You stretch out the timeline long enough and average the highs and lows and the comparative costs are probably moot.
I have to admit, there is a part of me that is really intrigued by this truck: https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/rivian-r1t-electric-pickup-truck/ what I am NOT enthusiastic about is the $6000 per unit Federal (read TAXPAYER-funded) subsidy! moth3&4)$3^!!!! I had to turn this back into a rant.
My 2013 focus has an sensor go bad and damn thing would not start sometimes, you would sit there and turn the damn key until it worked FYI if you buy an electric golf cart you can use the tax credit, a friend told me
The Saints would have won the Superbowl last night. Refs influenced that game without even officiating it.
That’s good to know. We’re looking at getting a golf cart for around the village. I’ll look into that.
I hate the Yahoo search engine. I delete it off my system set up, yet for whatever reason it keeps coming back and replacing Google as my preferred search engine. Please for the love of God someone help me get rid of the bastard Yahoo.
You using chrome, firefox or windows explorer? My guess would be it is auto-updating and going back to default settings. I'm not real tech savy in that regard so hopefully someone else can get you set. I rarely use the Desktop, always on my phone.
I had a 2012 Dodge Journey as a work car for awhile- it had electrical gremlins. The damn thing was possessed. Starter would randomly quit, gauges would randomly go berserk, and then the kicker was when I would turn it off, start to walk away and realize that the car was still running- with the key in my pocket. Have to pull the fuel pump fuse to get it to quit. Other than that though, great car Seriously, it had a ton of pep and was AWD and paired with the right tires was awesome on the road in any condition.
Sure glad it rained on top of the snow, now that the temp has dropped again it is suck a treat to be outside.
yeah, I was working out in my shed yesterday, walking back and forth between that and the porch the ground was 2" of muck and dog poop, under that still frozen solid. Ever step was hazardous to my health. Now that my gas is fixed I can't wait for it to freeze again so I can get some stuff done out there.
Lugging firewood by the arm load on ice is scary as hell, if I fell and broke my hip my wife would have me in a nursing home.
Damn. Older I get the more careful on ice I am. A fella can go tits up so fast!! I've always had very fast reflexes but Murphy is gonna bust my ass someday
The things you clamp on the boots are awesome a guy at work that had his hip replaced has them, I tried them they are easy to put on and work, I keep forgetting to pick up a pair.
