Just got an e-mail makes me want to not even go to the spring safety refresher. There is a new initiative with the DNR fostering leadership, and promoting positive leadership. What a GD joke. The DNR has been hiring lead fire response positions. These are 13 pay period jobs per year. In this economy are you going to get the best candidates to take a 6 month out of the year job? The positions that have been filled in my region are a F'ing joke, none of the individuals has ever laid it on the line and been a crew boss of a 20 person crew on a 14 shift western fire detail, not one of those has shown an ounce of leadership in their fire careers they just want to be an engine boss. Now the DNR wants these slugs to facilitate leadership? What a farce. My goal was to stick around long enough to be the incident commander on 1 last named fire, hell I may just go in for one last shift and melt the hell down on the hack frauds.

Yeah Xcel's suggestion people use space heaters rather that turning the gas heat up, they must make more money off electricity than natural gas.

    Sign me up!

I pay more in fees, taxes and assorted BS than I do for the natural gas itself!

Although it might be cheaper to get it from Sota....

I swear my job is the only place of business open in the state of wisconsin today. Not going to be too busy in the tire distribution industry today.
Battery seems to be fine. Radio turns on, all lights work. I put some heet in the tank. Might be too late for that but worth a shot. -50 temps dont help.

We are open but shutting down all but the most essential operations. We were just told to turn off the office lights and power down our computers....until noon. WTF???

Being that we are an "uninterruptible" power user, we receive notification from the power company that we must reduce power consumption to xx level. We hsve one hour to do so or pay an VERY steep penalty. Looks like we were not getting to that magic number and were shutting everything down to meet the dead line

High demand they say, apparently there is a busted line some where near me. I am one of the lucky ones near Princeton that doesn’t have gas right now.... and probably won’t get it back until Friday, space heaters are saving us right now. Fingers crossed we don’t lose power too! At least it’s up to -18....

My loyal dogs who for at least the last 5 years have never missed a day to go for the 4:00 walk to feed the deer are not excited when I said time for walkers, it is that miserable outside.
