Has the media ever discussed the possibility of federal workers applying for unemployment, even though federal employees do not have pay deducted to cover employment insurance they are eligible. Funny when researching this many articles were written in 2013. Seems like furlough is not a Trump thing it has happened in the recent past, federal employees are not drafted they can leave at any time.

If Trump pulled this move(shutdown) for a balance Budget I would vote for him in 2020, my main issue is this wall is worth building, it's not worth the price some are paying with this shutdown. If Trump wants to shutdown the Government because he's tired of deficit spending, well get me a ticket on the Trump train. The wall is not worth disrupting people lives over, when it should have been built two years ago. Trump should have got the funding then.

FYI with a roaring economy and low unemployment we borrowed more money than we did in 2012. Go back to when Newt and company shut down the government in 96, what happen in the following years 1998 through 2001? We had a surplus, hmmm

That's why Trump should have gotten this done the first two years, Trump back himself into a corner here and now people are paying for his incompetence to get funding for his wall the first two years his party controlled the two branches.

If I were trump, I would have targeted the X number of senators I needed to get it passed and went after them in their own state. That's where I would have had my "rallies" and used social media to brow beat them into voting for the wall.

Hatfield Hunter are you willing to join the 800,000 and not get paid for the wall?

Well even the Fox News fact checkers were scratching their heads the other night.. They are having a harder time producing their own narrative from the Supreme Leader than in the past. Pretty sure I live closer to the border than most of y'all and I am for strengthening our present entry points more than building a wall. As it sits now the only way to build that wall and come in on budget would be to use illegal labor, which I do believe Trump is a pro at, he could even go so far as to not pay them as he has a track record of doing this in his past. I am for a wall but want Trump to have nothing to do with it, he will award contracts to unsavory contractors and it just has money funneling into his coffers written all over it.

So I have to be in Providence Monday morning ready to roll at 6:00 eastern time. I have a Sunday afternoon flight, that sucks bad enough but Delta does not have a direct flight during the winter. The shortest layover I could find was about 2 hours in Detroit. I took an afternoon flight because I don't want to be rushed on a Sunday. I land in Providence at 10:50 Sunday night. If that does not make me bitter enough Thursday flight home another layover in Detroit I land at 7:30 thursday night will probably get home at 9:30. I have 2 new reps and another in the process that will require extensive support on the start up. 2019 is going to suck.

Really??? Ryan (and McConnell) had majorities and would not give Trump his one signature campaign promise and you say Trump had his way with him?

By and large I love Trump and even I don't think your statement is anywhere near accurate. Maybe Trump owned him on Twitter from time to time but pwning someone on social media is not the same as legislatively.
(OMG "pwning" someone is not caught by autocorrect anymore....we are all doomed.)

Please tell me where Trump owned Paulie boy...I'm all ears. I could use the positivity.

Remember after the election the pink hats the libs were knitting for their March? President Trump got more fat women out walking than Michelle Obama did in 8 years with her wellness initiatives.

I would agree, except I believe that if DJT had done so the RNC would have not supported him going into 2020 and if not openly backed a primary challenger at least allow one to receive funds. He'd be out on his butt.

This was The Swamp asserting themselves; pure and simple. Again, Trump is Trump but he is still only one man.

The wall will help, but it will also make the issue worse of people flying to Canada and crossing in the North states, a small part of me wants that to happen, just so I can here the Northern states ***** about it

    More Fake News:

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/trav...r-shutdown-posing-security-threat/2522906002/

as of today, not one Federal employee has missed a single paycheck. So if these d-bags are quitting it's not because they haven't been paid yet. TSA has always had one of if not the highest turnover rate in the Federal government.

And many of the call-ins are people who have figured out how to game the system- they are calling in sick so as not to have to work knowing they will get back pay without having to burn sick or vacation leave. They're electively furloughing themselves and abusing the system.

I'm not an unemployment lawyer, but I know the following apply-
    • Federal contractors can file for unemployment because they will not be paid back pay
    • Essential federal workers currently working w/o pay (misnomer as nobody has missed a check yet) cannot file for unemployment because they are working and are going to get back pay
non-essential currently furloughed employees is where guidance is muddy...I believe they can apply for unemployment but when/if they get back pay (which they will) they have to pay unemployment back...and don't you have to be unemployed initially for like 30 days before you can apply anyway? Something like that.
