    the number "37". it's EVERYWHERE
    first noticed it in the movie "Clerks" back in like 1998. Since then, I have become convinced it is the most common randomly referenced/occurring number.

    I get a little pissed when I spend the extra $ on the premium paint brush and when I get done laying down a layer of spar varnish and find a bristle has fallen out of the brush.

    see? For some reason, ESPECIALLY in media/TV/movies; it is massively over-represented.
    For the un-initiated; in the movie Clerks, a character does something that shall not be mentioned here "37" times. One of the other characters makes fun of her for this by calling her "37". Me and my college buddies would call out "37" whenever we heard someone else reference "37." We soon realized that the number 37 is everywhere. We are all obsessed with this phenomena.

    I emailed Kevin Smith and asked him why he chose "37". He actually replied and said that he didn't know but it "felt right"- enough to make the audience uncomfortable but not so much as to make the character disgusting.
