Working on the fish house yesterday, gutting it. There were two seats, pretty much a vehicle seat mounted on swivel. Took me 2 hours to get them out. I texted the guy that I bought it from and told him I used all my curse words getting them out, he replied they were not made it ever come out.
I am so F ing sick of this weather. OK blow over my woodland trees. Go ahead snap the tops out of a dozen mature maples. Blowing my prettiest flowering, 15year old rhododendron bush complete out of the ground is BS!!!! Seriously I so look forward to that bush flowering every year. The ground has now refrozen over night and heaving, making resetting it impossible. I'll try just wrapping it for now but ...she's doomed.
My father in laws B day started as just a small gathering at the lake, yeah now 30 people are coming for burgers and brats.
Not really a rant just funny because my family owned a restaurant and I worked restaurants in college. Daughter took me out to lunch. She wanted a steak and I went with a house salad. My salad was actually great . Her med rare steak was way over done. She cut it all up trying to find an edible area but called over the waitress. Ask her what she saw and agreed overdone. I quietly sat there knowing what was coming. See when steaks are sorted in kitchen I remembered what was set aside for 2 reasons. The grizzly ones because no one willing pays good $$ for "chewy " steaks. The other reason steaks not cooked right and returned. Yeppers, her new steak comes back and with a different waitress , big smile, says this one is cooked perfectly . I literally could see the grizzle before she put the plate down. Daughter cut through the middle and sure enough it was perfect. Waitress left, daughter continued cutting. Oh lol, the tendons and fat was real . She just kept saying I can't eat this. . She said here try . This is where my gum chewing comes in handy. The flavor was actually very good . The chew ? I literally after 5 mins., could not break up the tendons and grizzle. To be honest it didn't bother me but wasn't exceptable, just predictable. See she wouldn't say anything and she was not asked about the steak ,purposely. She ate the few safe center pieces . Her original waitress had stood back and watched us.....there was no steaks on the bill when she payed. Waitress got a big tip.
Rant: Bought a pack of sandpaper at Lowe's today. Now the main checkouts are scanners with two people helping if and when necessary. Since they are saving money with wages and benefits, why not give lower prices reflecting an appropriate discount?
Enough with the GD snow. Sucks to drive to work no snow drive home it has been snowing for 3 damn days. The whole geode hunt outside is a no go, guess we will have to hide them in the house.
Hubby has been sick, refuses to see a Doc. because it's just allergies. I could hear it wasn't, well day after Easter bam! I get it. Allergies my ace. My head is a throbbing .....hhhmmm I'll be nice, kleenex advertisement. My throat is a depository for hot broken glass. He just called to check on me and apologize. Really? Me think, he was checking to see if I'm caring for the pups...lol
My wife got that crap, was sick all last week. I briefly felt like crap yesterday but over it. I told her it was the zinc I take and my super natural healing abilities.
Language of being nasty, nasty sick where lifting my head has resulted in spewing my stomache contents several times and clearing my rt. nostril, damaged my lft. eardrum. Other than that, " me thinks" is a phrase I picked up as a kid and believe may have come from Shakespeare. One to add a bit of levity. Perhaps for those that get levity in a rant. Oh wait Google it, my bad it is one word, not two..." methinks" it is Old English and yes used in Hamlet. Though please do Google for it gives a very good explanation of the meaning behind it.
sota, depends on what crud you get. Back when...a friend got a 24 hour bug. Mine lasted over a week. This was during the Swine Flu deal. Even got the vaccine and still got something else according to the doctor.
Oh for those wondering what the above was all about. A member read my original post about hubby getting me sick, then replied and said " what language is this?" Apparently my answer or his question didn't produce the results he was hoping for and he deleted his post. So there is the context to that post, thanks. Next time I'll remember to hit reply first.
So I am what I consider regimented about certain things, I do things the same way every time, keep things in the same place. I could not find my billfold this morning not in the 1 of 2 places it always is. Thought perhaps I left it in my office at work, nope drove me nuts all day. I have a big week next week with work I need my credit card etc. Drove home and walked in the house I left a hat sitting on a table, my billfold was under the hat, after I cut rocks on Sunday I took off my vest emptied the pockets, took off my hat and put it on the table. Relieved but I was a little pissed at myself. I blame it on I have not worn a ball cap in a while.
sota, I'm also regimented at keeping things in the same place. My late SIL would drop here keys on any place upon entering the house. Then spent half an hour or more to find them.
Anyone old enough to remember when the USA got upset because the Communist Russians were more fit than Americans? Then there was the thing about physical fitness. A guy asked, "What? Are we going to wrestle the Russians?" A late friend was a minister. He was at the doctor who poked his tummy and said to lose some weight. My friend started laughing. The doctor asked about the outburst. "Doc, I'm a minister and buried more skinny people than fat people." Bumper sticker- Eat right, stay fit, die anyway. I wonder how many fit people were in the World Trade Center on that fateful day?
Everyone dies, fat people cost Medicare (taxpayer funded healthcare) far more than fit people. Ask me about my 5'0" 350lb MIL who has had both knees replaced, one shoulder already replaced and the next shoulder coming up in May. Not to mention all her meds, paid for by your tax dollars. There are far more people like her than there are fit people in this country. I used to be 300lbs, its a choice and people who live responsibly with their health should not be paying taxes for the healthcare of those who do not.
Simple fix have @Sota call people fat!!!, Still down 40 lbs and feel great!!!! Gearing up for my ten mile hike
That's right, it's a choice. Orthopedic surgeon told me that every pound of weight lost takes seven pounds off the knees. I'm of the opinion that genetics plays a bit part in one's health. Knew an old farmer who probably did everything wrong and lived to be 103. OTOH, a friend is a retired RN who worked for many years in an oncology clinic. Had people in their 20s and 30s fighting for another day. Me? Cancer runs on both sides of my family. It's just a matter of time and where.
