Oh I have a rant from Friday that bled into yesterday. I will never again have a receiver pin for my hitch that locks, requires a key. I had one that has the sealing rubber over where the key goes, that only held the salt in. I did not have to resort to a torch or a saws all but it took some cursing to get it off.

sota, clean out the lock as best you can. Healthy shot of WD-40. I have used Ballistol which is very thick and sticks to surfaces.

A trick with those types of locks is to fill the cap with grease and rub a little in the key slot and face.

I put a plain ol' lock on the trailer latch. Shot of WD-40 once in a while, even put some on the key.

I never have a hitch on the truck unless there is a trailer attached. It only take half a minute to take it out from under the drivers seat and slip it in place or remove it and stow it back under the seat. I have too many scars on my shins from hitches where they aren’t necessary. It’s a pet peeve of mine.

Yes I agree the only reason I had the locking pin was because I bought a cover to go in the receiver and didn't want to have somebody steal it. Then it got destroyed in a car wash and then I got to deal with a corroded locking receiver pin. :( My own damn fault

Cold, snowing to beat the band and lightning bolts zipping through our woods lighting everything up and the sound crackling through the windows.
What a night, no wonder the pups didn't want to go out tonight .

Holy moley, snow stopped for now . It was a wet 3-4 inches with ice underneath. The winds are still brutal. School delays but unsure on closings, they already had weeks off with Easter still on the way.. Last night's lightening storm in the snow was pretty wild. I've seen lite ones before but this was a hard lightening and loud thunder that lasted a bit.

tick bite is still looking pretty angry, had to have been a dog that brought it in . Sons dog had slept in our bedroom and the pups in my lap yesterday after our walk. My outer clothes get drenched in deet.

Here's my rant of the day- I'm one of a few million Baby Boomers. When we were growing up, we were told, constantly, go to school, study hard, get a good job with good pay and benefits. Now it is whine, moan, groan and Rich Uncle will give you a guaranteed income. And do nothing to earn it!

I finally had a chance to call Garmin Support.

After spending 25 minutes waiting for a person, I spoke to a Benjamin who actually spoke english and I was only on the phone with him 10 minutes before he decided that it qualified for a replacement. There were three options:

Option one is I take my boat all the way to Union City, Tennessee for shop repair at Garmin's expense.

Option 2 is they send me a box, I box it up, send it to them and they send me a new one. This motor was such a pain to install that I didn't like that option, plus it would take 3 to 4 weeks before I got the new motor.

Option 3 is an "immediate return" where they send me just the motor/shaft/head unit now. I replace it myself and send them back the malfunctioning motor/shaft/head unit. While this option required a $1700 refundable deposit, I chose this option. It'll let me get back on the water sooner, and I'll get my deposit back as soon as they receive the defective unit.

    Pretty good customer service.

And now to the appropriate thread. Today is the gift that keeps on giving.

From one proctologist to another. Colonoscopy followed up by my new property tax assessment.

Have to wait for it to be delivered but I'm sure it will raise my blood pressure none the less.

I had my taxes done on Wednesday, it wasn't too bad. At the end the tax preparer told me that we are getting a $650 rebate on our property taxes, I was suspicious I don't get money back for anything I am waiting for a letter saying it was an error and I owe an additional $650.
