I just came in from doing mail run, ends of drives ways the canvas barn and tire trails for hubby's truck. Which first one was filled in before I got to second one done. High east winds and still snowing. Another 4 inches over the 4 inches we shoveled this morning.

    Stay safe guys

I was humbled yesterday. I knew my truck was close to needing new tires, but I was trying to wait until the tax refund. Attempted to get out of the neighborhood yesterday, drove fine on the flat street, couldn’t get up the hill even with 400lbs of weight in the back to add traction. Tires are fine on the streets, but can’t go uphill in 8” of snow and ice. Guess I will be buying new ones sooner than the tax refund. I miss my old Jeep Cherokee. Snow couldn’t touch that thing.

Going to Tampa, nice to get out of winter, except it is going to be cold in Tampa, lows in the 30's at night, that is nasty damp cold. I have time on Sunday but the fishing would be crap, I could go out to the old sunshine bay bridge but it will be cold and windy and the fish won't be biting. I won't even go to my favorite dive burger bar because the place is screened in and no heat.

Mother Nature (or maybe weather models…. Or both) are drunk. Some forecasts calling for up to 30” of snow in NC (Bomb cyclone) this weekend?!

Good time to sample the various craft brews, if that is your thing. Was in FL once and the temp was around 50. We were dressed for summer. Locals dressed like they were at an Aspen, CO ski resort.

My old bones do not like a damp cold. I know the area real well but I don't have any ideas for things to do indoors.

Finally getting an MRI done on my wrist. 12 weeks later.....

Not even sure what can be done if it does show something amd it has healed over, rebreak/tear it or surgery of some sort? Guess I'll find out Monday morning when I see the ortho for the results.

I'm injected up with contrast, now waiting to go back. Deep needles suck, but wasn't terrible.

Thanks, it's all good though. Had an MRI on my wrist looking for torn cartilage. I have bad shoulders, especially my right. To do the MRI I had to lay on my stomach with arm strecthed out flat in front of my head in a clam shell doo-hickey. Then couldn't move for 20 minutes straight, was just an overall uncomfortable position

Here's my rant for the day.
I'm a bit of a backyard environmentalist, enjoy taking care of our land, etc. and in the process, I pick up a lot of roadside trash along our farms. Majority of the trash / litter is fast food or single serving beverage containers.

Wife and I ate lunch at Popeyes Chicken today, inside the restaurant.
    • They served meal on a plastic tray which was the only thing reusable
    • The tray was covered with a throw away paper sheet.
    • Each of our chicken orders came in a throw away box.
    • There was a throw away piece of wax paper inside the box.
    • We got two beverages in throw away cups.
    • Each cup had a throw away lid.
    • Each of us used a throw away straw.
    • The straw was packaged in a throw away paper sleeve.
    • We each had a side dish in a throw away cardboard bowl.
    • Each side dish had a throw away plastic lid.
    • We used a throw away plastic spork to eat with.
    • The spork came in a throw away plastic bag.
    • Used a half dozen salt / peppers in throw away paper packaging.
    • Used 6-8 throw away paper napkins.
    • Got a 10" long throw away paper receipt.
All this crap for a couple lunches we were done with in fifteen minutes !

Elimination of this stuff seems to me like it would be a real easy way to improve the environment. At the same time eliminate a whole lot of single use beverage containers, beer, soda, milk, juice, booze, etc., etc. If you eat inside a restaurant there is no reason for all this stuff. Provide a few dishes and silverware, wash and reuse them. Make the beverage containers either aluminum which is truly recyclable, or glass returnable / reusable with a deposit like we used to do.

And no, we don't want a phony (Michigan type) $0.10 deposit for every plastic bottle, etc. which winds up going in the landfill anyway.

To me, this is low hanging fruit which could be mandated and have immediate positive environmental impact. Far less resources used, far less litter, saves timber (paper & carboard) and saves oil (plastic). Instead, our stupid politicians want to go after ridiculously expensive stuff like electric vehicles, wind and solar farms, carbon sequestering, and all kinds of other expensive silly stuff under the guise of saving the environment.

    Okay, I feel better now.

A city in California banned plastic straws but wrapped them in plastic. It is hard for a restaurant, if not impossible, to separate items for recycling. A couple of local restaurants use paper containers for take out or leftovers. As for dishes, silverware, glassware...they use 180 degree hot water to rinse then go the dishwasher which is actually a sterilizer. The dishwasher also uses electricity. Then the racks are set aside to dry as they have been exposed to high heated water of 180 degrees. No energy savings there plus the added expense of what is listed. A fast food restaurant won't have the extra floor space for dishwasher and storage of china and flatware. I sold restaurant equipment and supplies for a total of eight years. A big expense is replacing broken china and glassware. Not to mention what is stolen; silverware is the biggy.

Remember when we did away with paper bags to save the trees?

Oh, yes. So now we use petroleum to make plastic?
I also remember kids who picked up soda bottles during the summer, got the deposit and paid for school supplies and clothes. So we make plastic bottles for drinks, mayonnaise, ketchup, etc., toss them along the road, in the trash or maybe recycled.
Story of an entrepreneur: We were going to the Ohio state fair. Looking for parking, Dad noticed a cardboard sign in front of a house. Cars were parked in the yard. Dad pulled in and asked if it was OK with his parents. "Yes, sir, Dad said it was okay. I'm using the money for school clothes." Dad doubled the fee. Note the boy said "Sir."
