Craigs list people, looking at a fish house but not in this weather. If I go see it and want to buy it I am bringing to home with me. I told the guy I want to buy it but I am not coming to look at it till its is above zero. Guy got an attitude saying I am not holding it for you, I said I never asked you too. If it sells before I get there it is a sign it was not to be, there are other choices. Guy won't answer a question about the skids, if they are not one piece or lumber or not green treated keep it because it won't last 5 years.
My son in law is begging we to not buy the skid house, he wants to buy a wheel house and keep it here at the lake. I guess I won't argue with him and keep my $.
Sota, lived in Louisville, KY...winter of '76-77, had over a month it never got above zero. Next year, got 54 inches of snow!
We've had a somewhat typical winter. Cold with warm up or two. Pretty much steady snow with not as much accumulation. I'm talking a foot or two dumping in a day or over night. That begins early Feb. Thru mid March usually. So far a few to 8 ins. In a day. Winds, high though expected this year.
Yeah I have endured that several times here in Minnesota, point is that was when I was younger. As I get older the more I hate winter the cold wind lack of daylight it all just sucks.
Great, you can always turn up the heat. Forecast for us is now 2-4” ice. That’s gonna be catastrophic! ~20 years ago we had 1” of ice that destroyed a good bit of the power system. Some w/o power for weeks. 4”, all sorts of structures collapse…
PS I know cold, having grown up between Albany and Saratoga. Once went skiing when it was -30F…at the summit with wind chill, closer to -60F… Several years later I moved South…
Somewhere in the archives, I have 35mm slides showing the trees and power lines covered in ice in Central NC. Looked like glass crystals. My parents lived in Reading, PA. Our Saturday routine was to call that evening. Dad- Coming to NC. It's 32 degrees here. Me- I'm coming to PA. It's 22 degrees here.
Planned a feed run today because....we were not suppose to get a storm. Well yah can't color me surprised woke to a winter storm warning heavy snows and high winds with nasty temps. This gave me miles and miles of no road. That was fun. Did get all feed bought some with great sale prices and some up $1 a bag. 8 50# bags. To counter that rant Every store I went to had reduced meats chicken , pork, sausage. Then went and bought 2 lazyboy recliners, a nice leather one for hubby and a rocker one for me. Both with a decent sale, low delivery charge and given a 50.00 gift card for our favorite eatery. Shoveling the driveways when I got home....bad
37 now and high around 51. I'm in SE TN, just north of the GA line. Around here, mention snow and it is utter chaos with a generous helping of panic.
12 degrees here in Southern Indiana with a wind chill of -5. Calling for 8-12 inches of snow. Glad I got the snow plow hooked up! We might get a few days of ice fishing in if the forecast is correct.
