Here's what made me realize there were 2, can see 1 on left and the other on right. At one point I thought there was 3.
When I reset the trap I am going to be a little more scent control friendly. Still amazed at how skittish they were. Jr. Seems to be at a loss for words. Haven't heard any movement from it, not sure if it is still downstairs or if it climbed the wall and made it topside.
I know, sadly have had a few drinks so not taking that chance. Not releasing them back to their home turf, so wait I must.
Going to try something different tomorrow. Apparently you can call to racoons, so going to put a bluetooth speaker inside a cabinet tomorrow and play a few calls. Just separated from its sibling/cousin or whatever, it might be a bit prone for engagement.
Add some golden malrin fly poison and coke or Dr Pepper throw the marshmallows in there, raccoon will be dead before it can make the rafters.
The raccoon saga reminds be of the armadillo crisis we had here in Florida. I was tasked with dealing with it, fire arms not an option, thought about a bow but ultimately I put expanding foam in the hole, the armidillo came out coated in foam and I pummeled it with a baseball bat. My point is only way to deal with invaders is ending them. Unless you live in the country and live trap raccoons, bring them into town to release them so the town folk can see wildlife.
Went back and watched all 12 hours overnight. The 2nd one never came back, haven't heard it either. Checked the entry point and the 3 other basement windows it has access to and they are intact so it's still there. Only water source is the sump and I don't believe it can access it due to the joists running east/west and the main beam north/south. Think the beam has it limited to the west half of the basement. No clue when the last time it ate/drank. I don't want it dieing inside, hopefully catch it tonight
I hope so, have to return to work tomorrow, been off the past 10 days and not the way I had planned to spend it.
Normally hanging out here waiting on sunrise, not sunset On a side note, I do not recommend the Havahart brand live trap. Very flimsy and weak material. I'm worried a slight bump on it may set it off before it even has a chance to enter.
