Yes, yes I know and then there's those pesky LB look alikes...Oh and it's just SO WONDERFUL to roll over in bed during the summer to have your nose realize I rolled over on to a STINK BUG. Yah a yearly thing. The only thing, Knock on wood, that I've never had an issue with is bed bugs, fleas, and roaches. I suppose I can count blessings..lol

I don't know what I'm up against. Bird or rodent, and either way it has the advantage of being overhead when I walk into the laundry room, or it can be hiding anywhere.

Think I heard something shortly after stating I had not heard anything.

First time I heard it was about 5:15am, so nocturnal or I woke it up getting up for work. That was about 10 days ago.

If it's still in the house it is contained short of chewing through something to access the other side of basement or main floors.

Whatever it is is still alive and in the ceiling or between the concrete wall and interior wall.

I have no idea just how big if a critter can fit through a 5-6" square.

This is turning into a nightmare situation now. I have no idea where exactly it is or how to get to it without a complete wall removal.

Not sure of anything other than birds that would be breeding/nesting this time of year.

Whatever it is, it pulled out chunks of fiberglass insulation and can fit through a 6" cylinder. Squirrel, bird, opossum(?), maybe raccoon and better not be a damn skunk.

I have a side door that leads down to the basement or left up to the kitchen. It's my primary entrance normally, but I just sealed it off. Bi-fold door tied shut, cat likes to push it open to hide in the basement when it rains or storms.

Not a bird, not a squirrel. This thing has size and is growing agitated.

I have the worst effing luck.

I can hear it mainly in between the floor and basment ceiling scratching on HAVC pipes.

You might be surprised how viscous sounding a growl, weasels make. Are you in ferret country?
Bright side of either, unlike mice , they dont relieve themselves where they live, I believe. Also may eat mice?

I have had a couple of mice get into the wall between the layers of sheet rock. A mouse can get into any place as long as his head will fit. The rest of the body compresses.

As a hater of rodents that has perfected killing them using several methods. Sounds like this critter is not exiting your home it has moved in. It needs to feed, traps hunt 24 7. Little conibear trap and some bait. Baba Yaga wishes you happy hunting.

IT'S GOING TO BE A ROUGH SUMMER!!!
Took the dogs out to run while I checked back plots and derocked some trails. Sprayed down with high dose Deet. Get home strip downpants and socks they were tucked into. Left the shirt and bra on grab coffee and headed up to check weather. No sooner do I sit down I feel something under bra band . A freaking tick! Start stripping down and call for hubby to do a check . Yep another trying desperately to get attached before I got it. WTH zero vegetation on plots and trails cleared.

    Good news, bad news.

Bad news is the effing things is still inside, good news is it can access the laundry room. Little effer has made a mess of things, knocking everything off shelves and counters.

Went and bought a live trap and put a bowl of sardines and tuna in it. Been 24 hours now, has to be getting hungry.

My guess is it is a raccoon, initially thought an opossum but seeing how acrobatic it seems, thinking a trash panda. Would smell it if it was skunk.

Just don't waant it dieing in the walls/ceiling.

Placed an extra security cam on it. This is only the second varmint I have had in the house in 14 years. First was a mouse, went and boit 4 spring traps and some peanut butter, had it caught within an hour of seeing it. Just hope there is only one.

Guess it could be a squirrel, but sounds a lot bigger than a grey squirrel.

Hope to find out by morning

I hope so, and in the singular. Just got to thinking if it was a squirrel it could likely get into the attic or worse using vent pipe and duct locations.

Squirrels have been known to chew on wiring and cause a fire. An aside: my parents lived in a retirement community in Florida. Squirrels would chew car wiring.

It just started moving about 15 minutes ago. Trying to figure out where it is at, but every time I move around it stops. I can't tell if it has accessed the attic or not, so hard to tell.

If I have to call an exterminator it will be a nightmare. Most walls and ceilings above ground are plaster, not drywall.

Pretty confident it is still downstairs between basement ceiling and floor. Hindsight I should have put a fan behind the trap to blow the scent towards where it is and help draw it to it. Also pretty sure it is just one, no vocalizations or movements in different areas.

I hope this is over with soon, freaking stressed to the max.

It's almost like it was looking at the camera and hesitant to come down. See if this works, above the handle on the right of the power washer. It sat there for a fee minutes but wouldn't come down.
