Because we get our oil from the middle east and else where. There are bombs being dropped and threats being flung around. It's called anticipational increases. IMO

A tale of the good and the bad.
    Rant:
Lost one hen and trying to save another. Goshawks got them mid day. Mind you they just had to go up into neighbor's wood lot. AJ and I couldn't get to them fast enough. They got two but one came back full of holes that night. I've been dressing and cleaning wounds the last 2 days.
So these are the Goshawk we've been enjoying watching mom teach them to hunt behind the house. I hear them out there now as I type. They are getting rare and we are thrilled to have them breeding and raising young on our place . It's been a few years. They are my best rodent killers and are wild to watch flying through the woods hunting and devastating the reds ,greys , and chippers.
Unfortunately.....they apparently liked the taste of chicken. They're not even remotely afraid of AJ and I . The flock is now in lock down in their fenced area with a web of bright colored curling ribbon stretched over the top. It wiggles with the slightest breeze and they can't or won't attempt a dive through it.
They really are a beautiful bird, noisy but beautiful.

They are calling for 2-3" of rain. There goes the tomatoes,
Now thankfully temps are down so they are finally ripening, I have 150 plants
Many other plants love this rain

I'm seriuosly surprised on the skeeter population this year, it's been low. That said, the biting flies of ALL kinds have been so bad I gave up on all berry picking this year. I just could not deal with it at all.
No sauna here we are in the 70's and I am a happy, happy camper.

When you have a beautiful vintage malt machine and make yet another wonderful malt, do not fill the empty malt cup with water and put it on the machine because you think it will make cleaning the mixing arm easier, unless you would like to irrigate half of your kitchen.

You also have to put the top on a blender before hitting high….just thought you should know.

Malt cups don't have lids, you just have to start mixing with the parts submerged.

Just a bad joke on my end. But I can visualize the moment you suffered in slow motion.

I've been playing catch up trying to cut all veggies for canning salsa. It's taking me forever and both hands are a gnarly swollen up mess. HOLY COW!I'm so sore and so glad I got my full season cross bow permit. That said, right now I'm not sure I could draw that back right now. I can't hold a cup at the moment

Got me working two overnight shifts this week. I haven't done that since 2022. Not looking forward to it at all.

These young kids kicked butt for almost 2 days. All the way up to not having the final part to complete the job and instead of getting off at 4am I am now waiting on them to drive to Home Depot. Kill me.
