Germ, thanks for the kind words but I guess I never saw my job as service to the public I get paid to do it. VFD members get the tip of my hat they are true workhorses of public service. Plus I don't know why I am bothering to take the pack test this morning there will be no fire season this spring we still have snow and it will go from snow to green up in less than a week.

When you write a comment and then decide it's a waste of time so you close out the thread, then come back and your comment is still in waiting in the comment window to post so you delete it and change threads and come back and it's there again lurking like a bad cologne you can't get rid of.

I’ve done that, usually the unposted comment was from after having a few beers the night before and you’re glad you didn’t post it

Occasionally, someone asks me for info, I start typing a reply, get interrupted and when I come back to finish my reply, it's gone. My unfinished inane posts stay available for eternity. :/

How did the PT tests go?
Mueller, my hunting buddy is doing the pack test next month. He's like 100 years old. Heh. Well, maybe 59 years old. He can keep up with most of the younger guys but I think he feels it more the next day. He's on the volunteer fire department. It's not a matter of if we're going to have a wildland fire, just how many.

I'm an EMT with the volunteer ambulance service. We don't really have PT tests, but every time I have to lift a pt and the gurney onto the ambulance or handle the extrication tools (we do the extrication not the FD), I think... 'I really need to work out'. Ugh.

I applied for another pretty large police department of 500 or so officers. Gonna move back down the ladder rank wise but I don't care. Submitted my application a few days ago. Hope they don't take too long to let me know whether or not if they are interested because I don't have a lot of time to play around due to this move. haha

The 1.5 mile run at 43 and 235 lbs isn't a lot of fun. LOL

I'm training for my first PT test in 13 years at 42 and 215. Literally just got back inside and sat down. Barely got the 1.5 in under 17mins. Pathetic. Going to have to run it hung over like last time, lol.

    Puke and rally!

I did just buy some new trail running shoes that are supposed to eliminate toe slam (Altra Zero Drop) and ran on them for first time today and I'd say they def do that and reduce foot fatigue and knee slams. But it worked a weird little muscle in the mid/front of my shins that is now screaming. I'm throwing some 95 proof rye at it to see if that helps.

Thanks man. I'll have limited time to scout, but going to try to get out as much as I can. I might be scouting all the way into October. Ill share whatever spots I find. Doesn't bother me one bit. You live down in Central VA?

Totes with all my camo clothing and hunting accessories were stolen from my storage locker. I was last in the locker just before Easter and found the door unlocked yesterday. Went in and found the cut lock inside and my totes missing. Took only the two totes. Left hang on stands, climbing sticks, golf clubs, fishing gear and bicycles behind. So, now I need new hunting clothes. I'm 6'6" and would like suggestions on reasonably priced gear that reliably carries tall sizes. Used to have good luck with Cabela's, but since the merger with Bass Pro their selection stinks.

I'm thinking of looking at those state forests that surround Farmville and even the north side of Lake Kerr. Looks to be a good amount of land around that lake to hunt.

People who buy 12 lottery tickets when 10 people are in the line. Damn them.
