Bet it just needs a new capacitor. Fan motor will just hum and not spin the fan if the capacitor fails. They are fairly inexpensive.

And to add to this, if you can see the capcitor normally the top of it where the connectors are will be popped up, but not always

Mod-it was right. In the future all you need to do is find out which capacitor you need, buy one and replace it yourself. It’s a cheap and easy DIY repair.

Was a bit too late, was your capacitor. 10 minute swap out $15 at a local mom and pop stop.

If you still have the bad one, order another and have on standbye, usually last years but Summer heat plays a role in that.

With my luck it would happen while I was at work, and I would say call a guy get him out to fix it.

Is a freeon charge easy to do? My a/c is running but not keeping up. I put in a window unit to help. Local a/c company charged my MIL $500 to give her system a charge last week.

Best way to tell if it is your A/C or just too hot and for whatever reason the house doesn't retain cool/ heat is to use a thermometer.

Stick it in your return air duct and let it acclimate, then stick it in your a/c vent and you should see a 20 degree differential. Another helpful tidbit a former HVAC guy told me, while it's running go outside, if the big copper pipe is sweating it's likely full. If it's not you'll need freon and being a sealed unit likely have a leak somewhere.

Best way to avoid big service call is talking to others, someone always knows a retired tech or someone who does it on the side for a few bucks plus cost of the freon.

I've never attempted it myself other than on auto's in a shop with a proper machine.

    @Justin

Does the forum security software place temporary suspensions on IP adresses suspected to be bots?

Reason I ask is it seems everytime I do a lot of searching, especially in the vault, the forum won't load and I'll get this:

    Screenshot_20220721-130037_Chrome.jpg

It did it to me today so out of curiosity I turned on my VPN and site loaded fine, turned it off and wouldn't load. Did that a few times same result. Doesn't matter if at home on computer or work on phone. After awhile it starts working again.

Just curious, drives me crazy, but at least I now have a work around(currently using VPN)

Phone ring tones and alarm sounds anymore!

WTF is with all this Mary had a Little Lamb chit? I need loud and obnoxious, not a lullaby to wake me up. Then you want snooze to be the same soothing sounds

    They are all against us....

 Nascrap has been just crap for a few years now. Ever since they went to the format they're using now.

Dirt is where the real racing is at. That's my second home and most expensive hobby. Took this year off due to the extreme prices.

I used to follow racing when I had a neighbor who worked for Hendrick supporting Jeff Gordon’s team. And I loosely follow since I live miles from the Charlotte motor speedway complex (quad oval, zmax drag strip and dirt track… you name it, they have or do race it (except f1)…

The Indy cars were cool when they raced here…till the unfortunate accident killing fans. Zmax 4 wide is a show. Karting, outlaws dirt track and a few others like legends are all passion.

We thought about going to Charlotte for the World Finals (dirt) in November - farm makes it tough to go anywhere, though.

Just got a phone call....they're putting a Dollar General in my town. STUPIDEST thing ever. We have less then 500 people. You literally blink and you drive through the town....and it's going to be on the back side of my land across the road. I am opposed. I sit on borough council and I'll be making that very clear at our next meeting.

We have literally one in every town but ONE in our area. That is 14 of the damn stores within' 15 miles. Why tf do we need another one?!!!
