Definitely the hardest part. When my FIL was taken off life support, he only made it about three minutes before oxygen gave out. Apparently, that is on the fast side. I hope it was that quick for your mom.
Sota, I watched the process with my Grandfather and Grandmother (two different cases - both were terminal, one cancer, one end stage kidney failure...both hospice). It's awful. I 100% agree with assisted suicide, but sadly, very few states allow it. I'm not sure if in cases like you're in, it'd help, but I just think it'd have to be better then you seeing them suffer.
not technically 'denominations'. He probably meant 'orders' ie Jesuits vs. Franciscans vs. Dominicans
No it is not quick we took her off on Monday she is still there but not there. I like to think she is there somewhere and can hear us, they moved her to a hospice facility. Made arrangements so my Dad and brother can bring her dogs to see her this morning, hope she lasts long enough to happen, it will be therapeutic for my Dad. The longer she lasts I want to scream put her feeding tube in, I am having a real hard time with starving her to death, wether she can feel it or not it is f'ing barbaric.
The down side to the feeding tube (if she is breathing on her own) is that she could be in her current state a very long time. It SUCKS waiting for someone to pass. My dad went so fast, no one was there when he passed.
Man, I am sorry it is not being quick. My grandma took four days once they removed life support. She had Alzheimers. The whole thing sucks.
Denominations is probably not the correct word, but there are "strains", or whatever they should be called, that are pretty hardcore in what is considered a sin in comparison to the church I went to. There are actual names for them, I just can't remember them. While cremation was preached against at my church at the time, birth control medicine was okay, just not options that permanently removed the ability to conceive. I attended Catechism, was an altar boy, the whole nine yards. I no longer attend either. Ever sat through a Catholic wedding with communion and all? Good lord, that in itself is enough to test your faith.
I no longer attend either, haven't since my early twenties. I only found out that cremation was now acceptable when my stepdad passed away, he was a faithful Catholic and I wanted to make sure my sister and I planned his funeral according to what was 100% acceptable to his faith.
Finally got my lab results back. Signs of old and current toxoplasma infection in my blood. The test that shows older infection was 90 times the high level marker. Current infection is like 7 times upper limit. Guarantee that's why I was on deaths door in November. Wild.
Saw surveyors on adjacent parcel to my house... Pulled up on base map and see an llc bought up a couple parcels... Zoned for multifamily 43 units /acre. Looks like apartments are going up... Guess I need to accelerate my plans for my other property.
No kidding and the funerals aren't much better. People passed out at my mom's. I remember both my first communion and confirmation. We had the Bishop and a receiving line at the end when leaving. I had been a Chalice bearer. when it got to me in line he stuck out his hand with that big ruby ring to be kissed..My Aunt, God mother, was behind me and knew him well. I thought are you kidding ? Looked him in the eye and with a big smile I firmly grabbed his hand shook it and said Thanks! then out the door I went... I'm pretty sure my Aunt never spoke ten words to me after declaring how mortified and embarrassed she was. Our priest never forgave me either. We later had a public exchange in the hall of my high school. He quickly found out who he thought and who he actually was dealing with. That ended my Catholic association.
You ever just have a weird experience?? Well my eyes are still messed up..hundreds of people out here at soccer practices. I'm walking and walk past some lady. I turn around and look back when we cross paths and she does the same at about 40 yds. Looks like my prom date crush from 30 yrs ago. I say nah that's not her no way. Turn around and she is lost in the sea of parents before my terrible eyes lose visual. I've heard she lives around this area..... not gonna leave my wife or anything but that was wild! Lol
I That sucks...I mean that really sucks...I'd mortgage this place to put up a 10 ft wooden fence the entire property line on that side or sell before it was done....
